On the afternoon of September 5, after the opening ceremony of the new school year, Van Don Secondary School (Xom Chieu Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) organized for all students of grades 8 and 9 and teachers to go to the cinema to enjoy the film "Red Rain".

"Red Rain" is a film that recreates the fierce years of the resistance war against the US, depicting the image of the generation of fathers and brothers who were willing to sacrifice their youth and blood for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Through this tragic story, students have the opportunity to look back on the heroic but also painful history of the nation.

According to teachers, this is an extracurricular activity with special meaning, both creating an exciting atmosphere at the beginning of the school year and helping students approach national history through the language of cinema.

Ms. Duong Thi Hue, a History teacher, said: “Taking students to the cinema is not just a trip, but a vivid lesson. Through the film, students can see more clearly what books find difficult to convey completely – the brutality of war, camaraderie, patriotism and indomitable will. This is a visual way of education, helping history become closer, touching emotions and deeply engraved in students’ minds.”

The activity of going to see "Red Rain" by teachers and students of Van Don Secondary School brought students both historical knowledge and emotional experiences.

Dinh Bao Ha, class 8A2, said: “Even though I have seen the movie 'Red Rain' once, I still decided to go see it a second time with the school, because I wanted to see those meaningful scenes again, and be able to feel the movie more deeply. I feel very grateful to our ancestors, because they used their youth, not sparing their lives to exchange for freedom for the nation.”

Ha's sharing is also the common feeling of many students after the screening. Instead of just listening to lectures in class, they were able to see, be moved, and even shed tears while watching the film.

Many parents also agree that the school's choice of movie viewing on the opening day shows innovation in educational methods when combining knowledge with real-life experiences.
