Many parents reported that their children were allowed to take the afternoon off but were "stuck" at school due to heavy rain and flooding in front of the school gate and on the way home, while their parents were also "stuck" at work, unable to pick up their children due to heavy flooding on many of the roads home...

Since early this afternoon, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khang, Chairman of the Marie Curie School Board, has continuously sent notices to school staff and parents about plans to ensure student safety.

In addition to letting students leave school early and arranging buses to take them home, Mr. Khang asked all levels to assign some teachers and supervisors to stay and watch over the students until their families picked them up. The kitchen prepared instant noodles, sausages, and other essential foods for the children to stay late for dinner.

In the "special notice to respond to bad weather", the head of Marie Curie School requested: "The school does not let students and everyone go hungry or cold because they cannot return home. Dinners are completely free. The school kitchens, teachers and supervisors take care of food and sleeping places for those who have to stay at school on the night of September 30th."

Teacher Nguyen Xuan Khang said that at nearly 7 p.m., about 150 students were still at school and had enough to eat. If the children still couldn't go home tonight, there were "warm blankets and soft mattresses" available in the school's boarding rooms for them to sleep in. Teachers were also assigned to stay and take care of the children. "Children are happy, full, and parents are at ease. That's all I hope for," said Teacher Khang.

Ms. Cao Thi Nga, Principal of Phan Huy Chu High School - Dong Da, also said that she has asked homeroom teachers to know the number of students staying at school overnight to manage and arrange dinner and sleeping places for students and notify parents to rest assured.

Ms. Nga also sent a message to parents: "The school will support families to ensure the safety of their children and help parents not have to try to pick up their children in the midst of heavy rain and flooding, the most difficult times. The school will take care of dinner for children who cannot return home.

If you register your children to stay overnight at school, the school will assign teachers to manage, take care of and assign separate rooms for male and female students. In case parents come to pick up their children and cannot go home immediately, the school invites you to sit and rest in the classrooms on the first floor to wait for the rain to stop before taking your children home, to ensure the safety and health of you and your children."

Mr. Dam Tien Nam, Principal of Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary and High School, said that the school has decided to stop operating buses to pick up and drop off students. Families who can afford it and ensure their safety can proactively pick up their children, while the school will take care of their children's meals and accommodation at school. The school also assigned teachers to manage the students this afternoon and evening, ensuring that the children are looked after and safe as if they were at home.

Similarly, the Lomonosov education system also sent messages to parents informing them that it would provide dinner for students and look after students overnight to ensure safety in the situation of heavy rain and flooding in many streets and roads in Hanoi.

Accordingly, Lomonosov Primary School still has 50 students who have not been picked up by their parents. The middle school and high school have about 60 students stuck. The school said that they have gathered the children and given them a light meal. By 7 p.m., for students who have not been picked up, the school has provided dinner and let the children sleep overnight at the school. The school board has assigned leaders and teachers to assist parents in ensuring the safety of their children.

The school has planned to arrange dormitories for female and male students in two separate areas, with teachers assigned to manage them. Students will also be given personal hygiene items such as towels and toothbrushes, and the school will also take care of breakfast tomorrow, September 30.

Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School has gathered students stuck at school in the library. The school announced that it will organize meals and rest to ensure the health of students, teachers and staff who cannot return home.
