US urges citizens to leave Lebanon using 'any ticket that is being sold'

More than a dozen countries have issued emergency travel advisories, advising their citizens to avoid or leave Lebanon immediately.

The US Embassy in Lebanon has urged US citizens to leave Lebanon using "any ticket that is being sold" amid fears of an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah and a wider regional conflict, AFP reported on August 3.

The agency's statement said that despite the flight suspensions and cancellations, "commercial transport options to leave Lebanon remain viable."

"We encourage those wishing to depart Lebanon to book any ticket that is available, even if it does not depart immediately or on their first-choice route," the US Embassy stressed.

Earlier, on July 31, the US advised its citizens not to travel to Lebanon and to leave if possible, citing rising tensions between Israel and the Hezbollah armed group in Lebanon.

According to Anadolu , as of July 31, more than a dozen countries, including the US, UK and France, have issued emergency travel advisories, advising their citizens to avoid or leave Lebanon immediately.

The Israel-Lebanon tensions come amid a conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip that has killed tens of thousands of people and sparked a humanitarian crisis, raising fears the conflict could spread across the region.
