According to Yonhap, on June 3, South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup said the US, South Korea and Japan have agreed to operate a real-time North Korean missile warning data sharing system this year.

The information was released after a trilateral meeting between Mr. Lee Jong-sup and his US counterparts Lloyd Austin and Japan's Yasukazu Hamada on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue security forum in Singapore.

Currently, real-time missile warning data sharing is only implemented between the South Korean military and the US Forces Korea, and between the Japan Self-Defense Forces and the US Forces Japan. Japan and South Korea do not have a similar mechanism.

According to the Japan Times, Japanese Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada also said the three countries have agreed to conduct regular military exercises, including anti-submarine warfare and missile defense drills.
