The pharmacies tallied the prescriptions and then paid the doctors profits through marketing and management services companies such as Trinity Champion and Hexamed.
The indictment alleges that doctors prescribed drugs with a profit share.
Trinity Champion leader Amir Mortazavi and Hexamed leader Arvin Zeinali along with two companies were prosecuted.
The indictment alleges that the pharmacies received 45-55% of the profits, while the rest was passed on to intermediary companies to be shared with doctors. If convicted, each defendant faces up to 45 years in prison.
