The only male student from a "village school" in Hanoi won third prize in the national physics competition.

(Dan Tri) - Tran Quang Hung - class 12A8, Ngo Quyen High School, Ba Vi - is the only suburban student from Hanoi to win a national prize this year.

Among the 21 students who do not attend specialized schools and are on the Hanoi national excellent student team for the 2024-2025 school year, Tran Quang Hung is the only representative from a suburban school.

Among the 20 members of the physics team, Hung is one of two students who do not major in physics. The remaining member - Hoang Pham Minh Khanh - studies at the famous private school Newton Secondary and High School. Previously, Khanh led the Vietnamese team at the 2023 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) with a Silver medal.

Tran Quang Hung scored 19 points, winning third prize. This is the first time Ngo Quyen High School (Ba Vi) has had a student win a national prize in cultural subjects. This school is in the group with the lowest entrance scores in Hanoi with an average admission score of less than 5 points/subject.

At this year's national high school exam, Hanoi had 21 students who did not study at specialized schools participating. 15 of them won prizes.

Specifically, Newton school had 5 students competing, 4 of whom won prizes including: 1 second prize, 1 third prize and 1 encouragement prize in math, 1 second prize in physics.

Nguyen Gia Thieu High School had 3 students taking the exam, 2 of whom won second prize in Chinese.

Japan International Middle and High School has 3 students participating in the competition, 2 students won consolation prizes.

Hoang Long High School, Phan Huy Chu High School (Dong Da), and Viet Duc High School all had 1 student participating in the contest and all won prizes, respectively Second prize, Third prize, and Encouragement prize in Japanese.

Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary and High School had 1 student taking the Chinese exam and won third prize.

Doan Thi Diem Secondary and High School had 1 student taking the biology exam and won third prize.

Tran Hung Dao High School - Ha Dong has 1 student taking the Russian language exam and won third prize.

Hanoi has entered the 14th consecutive year leading the country in the number of national awards with 200/260 students winning awards. However, Hanoi's award winning rate is not in the top 10 provinces and cities nationwide.
