Khun Ha Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities has 664 students, of which 331 are boarding students. Notably, 95% of the school's students are Mong ethnic minority, nearly 5% are Thai ethnic minority. Boarding students at the school are all those who live 7km or more from the school, therefore, they are entitled to support policies according to Decree 66/2025/ND-CP dated March 12, 2025 of the Government .

Therefore, the school always cares about the quality of boarding meals, ensuring food hygiene and safety, and balancing appropriate nutrition.
The school directs the cooking team to pay attention to carefully checking the origin and quality of food to ensure cleanliness and clear origin. At the same time, pay attention to changing the daily menu; ensuring nutritional balance, suitable for the children's taste. In addition, the coordination between the school, the cooking team, parents and the local community has created a close link, bringing sustainable results.
Teacher Trieu Thi Lai added: "We always strictly adhere to food hygiene and safety regulations, from food selection, preservation to processing. In addition, we also listen to students' opinions and thoughts to adjust the menu accordingly, helping them to be more excited about their daily meals."

With the school’s efforts, the quality of meals at Khun Ha Ethnic Boarding Secondary School has had many positive changes. Students are healthy, the rate of malnutrition has decreased significantly, last school year the school had no food poisoning; the rate of student attendance reached 99%, and academic performance has improved.
Teacher Hoang Dinh Manh - Vice Principal of the school shared: "In the coming time, the school plans to continue to improve the capacity of the kitchen staff, expand communication activities on nutrition and food hygiene and safety. At the same time, increase investment in kitchen equipment, mobilize social resources to bring better quality meals to boarding students".
