On September 12, in Tay Ninh province, the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) held an important conference to improve the quality of traders and train human resources to manage and develop Vietnam's border trade infrastructure. This conference is part of the project to promote the development of border trade and export of goods to the Cambodian market, approved under Decision No. 2162/QD-TTg dated July 25, 2025 of the Minister of Industry and Trade.

The conference focused on enhancing the capacity of organizations and businesses participating in import-export activities through Vietnam-Cambodia border gates, as well as the staff and civil servants working in border trade infrastructure management. This event also created opportunities for connection and experience sharing between state management agencies, associations and the business community.
Overview of the Conference

Currently, Vietnam has more than 25 international border gates and more than 40 main border gates, along with dozens of secondary border gates and openings. Many key border gates have been upgraded and applied modern customs clearance technology. In addition, many provinces have built a system of border markets to serve the exchange of goods and meet the needs of residents. However, challenges still exist. Facilities in some areas are not synchronous, the scale is still small, and many markets are not connected to supporting infrastructure such as warehouses and logistics.

At the conference, experts discussed and analyzed key issues in border trade development. Delegates emphasized the importance of improving the border gate system, border markets and logistics infrastructure to shorten customs clearance time, reduce costs and increase competitiveness for Vietnamese goods. Representatives of associations and enterprises also shared experiences in developing distribution systems in border areas and import-export practices.

If Vietnam can exploit its advantages in agricultural supply and expand cross-border consumption markets, this will not only help solve output problems for farmers but also create added value and promote sustainable development./.
