“Highland Sunshine” has given wings to dreams for students of Phan Boi Chau Secondary School.

Attending the event were leaders of the Women's Union at all levels, local authorities, press agencies, and all teachers and students of Phan Boi Chau Secondary School.

The "Leader of Change" Club is one of the pilot models of Project 8. Since the beginning of 2023, the Women's Union of Chu Puh district, Gia Lai has coordinated with the District Department of Education and Training to launch two "Leader of Change" clubs at Phan Boi Chau Secondary School and Kpa Klong Primary and Secondary School (Chu Don commune) with 368 participating students. After a few years of implementation, the Club has become a useful playground to help students change their thinking, become the "nucleus" in the work of eliminating gender stereotypes and "sowing" gender equality. The event "Sunshine of the Highlands" is a communication activity to arouse and encourage the spirit of overcoming difficulties and pursuing dreams of students; spreading the message "Ethnic minority women should confidently take control of their lives".

Mr. Ngo Duy Ung, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Women's Museum, delivered the opening speech at the event.

Mr. Siu Y Be, District Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chu Puh district, Gia Lai, spoke at the event: "The Change Leaders Club has provided students with knowledge about preventing child marriage, reproductive health, and preventing school violence through various activities such as group discussions, drama... students can speak up, thereby changing their attitudes, perceptions and behaviors."

With the participation of more than 600 students and teachers, this event is an opportunity for ethnic minority students to meet with role models who have overcome difficulties through the talk show "Shine Confidently" . Two young people, Sung Thi So and H'Nen Nie, shared their stories about their efforts to overcome social prejudices and achieve success, reaching their dreams. These stories not only reflect resilience but also inspire students to realize that starting point does not determine everything, but determination and effort are the factors that create success. Sending a message to the students of Phan Boi Chau Secondary School, Gia Lai, Sung Thi So said: “ I want to tell you: Education is definitely the only, surest and fastest way to success. I hope that you will all strive to pursue your dreams, always be confident, and shine in your own way. No journey is easy, but I hope that no matter what, everyone will always persevere with their goals.”

Also within the framework of the event, the exhibition "My Dream" by the Vietnam Women's Museum was introduced to the public and students of Phan Boi Chau Secondary School. The exhibition includes 2 themes: Where I live and Wings of Dreams, bringing a picture of the reality, barriers and dreams, aspirations of students at Bac Ha Secondary and High School (Bac Ha district, Lao Cai) and Phan Boi Chau Secondary School (Chu Puh district, Gia Lai), 2 schools in 2 key communes of Project 8. Accompanying women and children of ethnic minorities, Project 8 and many practical activities implemented throughout the Women's Union at all levels have been and are the support, multiplying aspirations for development.
