Sharing with the press, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Vietnam GSBezdetko affirmed that the results achieved in 2024 between Vietnam and the Russian Federation clearly demonstrate the common spirit of the two countries in comprehensively promoting the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The key event of 2024 is the state visit of Russian President VV Putin to Vietnam in June. The visit has given a clear impetus to the interaction between executive bodies, parliaments, party structures, public, scientific and educational institutions.
On the sidelines of the visit, 15 documents were signed to further promote cooperation in the fields of economics , education and training, science and culture. The two leaders adopted an impressive Joint Statement, which is the foundation for further promoting Vietnam - Russia relations in the coming time.
Next, the visit to Russia by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man in September 2024, attending the third meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee on Cooperation between the Russian State Duma and the Vietnamese National Assembly, and reaching an agreement on cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies is also very important.
An event that cannot be ignored is Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s participation in the expanded BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, and the meeting between President Putin and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on the sidelines of the summit. The leaders of Vietnam and the Russian Federation have set out many important directions for bilateral relations.
Economic cooperation between the two countries has been constantly developing in recent times. The bilateral intergovernmental committee on trade, economic, scientific and technological cooperation has been operating effectively.
The two countries have prepared a draft Comprehensive Plan on the Development of Russia-Vietnam Cooperation until 2030. This includes a roadmap to promote cooperation in the fields of trade and investment, industry, energy, transport, information and communication technology, science and education.
Cooperation in the oil and gas sector is progressing successfully, mainly within the framework of the Vietsovpetro joint venture. Thanks to the partial resumption of direct flights operated by Aeroflot and IrAero, the number of Russian tourists to Vietnam has increased again.

“In the coming time, Russia is ready to expand practical cooperation with Vietnam in many fields and hopes that traditional cooperation between the two countries will be strengthened on the basis of agreements at the highest and high levels,” Mr. GSBezdetko affirmed.
Regarding trade cooperation, since 2016, the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam has come into effect. To date, Vietnam has participated in 16 agreements (3 agreements are still under research) on simplifying customs procedures. Therefore, promoting mutually beneficial bilateral industrial cooperation will create new momentum for developing the export of non-raw material and non-energy goods from Russia to markets in the region, bringing new goods and new capabilities into the economy and trade of Vietnam.
Despite the complicated international situation, bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and the Russian Federation for traditional goods as well as new lines of goods still has growth. According to data from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the 11 months of 2024, trade turnover between the two countries reached 4.15 billion USD. Russia exported to Vietnam 2.03 billion USD, imported from Vietnam 2.12 billion USD.
According to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Russia's nuclear industry is one of the most developed and highly appreciated fields in the world. Russia is always ready to cooperate with Vietnam in the field of nuclear power.
Over the years, Russia has trained about 300 specialists in the field of nuclear power in Vietnam. If Vietnam calls for and creates conditions for cooperation in the field of nuclear power, Russia is ready to accept Vietnam's request.
2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation (1950-2025). On this occasion, the two countries will organize commemorative events to exchange and discuss many issues in various fields. At the same time, implement projects on the basis of consensus between the two sides, further deepening the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
