After completing the demolition of the Shark Jaw building, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem ward ( Hanoi ) expanded, renovated and renovated the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc square area of more than 1.4 hectares.
According to Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of September 10, after completing phase 1 of the renovation and beautification, the square area above has taken on a new look, more spacious and airy than before.

At the location of the old Shark Jaw building, Hoan Kiem ward has installed a large LED screen to propagate important contents, events, and major holidays of the country, while promoting culture, tourism and the image of the capital's people.

Along Dinh Tien Hoang street, it is noted that workers are still covering the inside with tarpaulin to continue refurbishing and renovating.

Along Dinh Tien Hoang Street, authorities have arranged flower pots and stone benches into "mobile fences" (which can be moved close to the sidewalk on weekends).
The renovated Dinh Tien Hoang street area also reserves most of the space for pedestrians along the square, keeping part of the lane next to Hoan Kiem Lake for cars and motorbikes to circulate.

Hoan Kiem Ward (Hanoi) has also relocated the parking lot on Dinh Tien Hoang Street and re-paved the road surface.

The above items are part of phase 1 of the Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square renovation project. In the coming time, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward will continue to implement phase 2 of the square renovation and beautification project under the direction of the Hanoi People's Committee.

Specifically in phase 2, authorities will study solutions to develop underground space in the square.
At the same time, continue to renovate the first layer of houses on the street around the square and renovate the overall technical infrastructure to match the activities of Hoan Kiem Lake as a special national monument.
In addition, Hoan Kiem ward is also expected to add urban facilities suitable for the area's operational functions.
