In particular, the hospital has successfully handled complicated cases such as surgery for appendicitis, strangulated inguinal hernia, emergency treatment for pregnant women with threatened miscarriage of twins, malignant malaria, meningitis, and ruptured ovarian cysts.
This is also the first level 2 field hospital in Vietnam that is trusted by the mission's medical agency to perform bone fusion surgery for closed fracture cases, which previously had to be transferred to a higher level.
During the mission, the officers and staff of Level 2 Field Hospital No. 6 also faced a cholera outbreak in South Sudan from November 2024, when Bentiu was the epidemic hotspot.
However, due to good hygiene and training for the unit, by the end of the term, the hospital and the division did not record any cases.
During its tenure, the hospital successfully completed four COE inspections, two comprehensive inspections, and one treatment quality and patient safety inspection organized by the United Nations.
All ensured absolute safety of people and equipment, concluding a memorable term in South Sudan.
