Education sector focuses on improving overall quality

Promoting digital transformation

In the 2025-2026 school year, the Department of Education and Training (DET) will continue to effectively implement the 2018 general education program; continue to innovate teaching methods; promote the initiative and creativity of schools and the autonomy and flexibility of professional groups and teachers. Since the end of August 2025, the Department of Education and Training has completed the organization of conferences to deploy tasks for the 2025-2026 school year for all levels and grades. Recently, the Department has also completed the organization of conferences to deploy core council activities for subjects and educational activities at all levels.

Mr. Tran Quang Bao - Provincial Party Committee member, Director of the Department of Education and Training emphasized that the education and training sector is determined to take the lead in applying information technology and digital transformation. In the 2025 - 2026 school year, the sector will achieve a breakthrough in technology, comprehensively applying AI to teachers' lesson preparation, testing and assessment of students, and management and operation of education agencies. Along with that, An Giang continues to implement the Khan Academy (KAV) Vietnam Open School program for mathematics to contribute to achieving the targets on applying information technology and digital transformation in the education and training sector. At the same time, creating a flexible learning platform to help students access knowledge anytime, anywhere.

To achieve the goal of applying information technology and digital transformation, in August 2025, the Department of Education and Training coordinated with KAV to deploy the online course "AI in education" to more than 40,000 teachers in the entire industry. An Giang is the first province in the Mekong Delta to deploy comprehensive AI training for all teachers, not only meeting the immediate need for digital skills training but also in line with the spirit of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW, dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, anticipating the implementation of the digital competency framework for teachers that the Ministry of Education and Training is about to issue.

Mr. Nguyen Gia Dang - Head of the Department of Quality Management and Information Technology, Department of Education and Training shared: “The course equips teachers with general knowledge about AI, AI applications in the classroom... Teachers proactively approach AI tools early, quickly and proficiently, thanks to which lesson preparation is easier and more effective and students can access technology early in their lectures. Teachers not only learn how to use AI but also understand their pioneering role of guiding students to learn, think and live with AI safely and responsibly”.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Nam - teacher at Ba Hon Secondary and High School, Kien Luong commune shared: “After the course, the most obvious change is not that I know a few more AI tools but that I have a “compass” to orient myself in the digital world. I am more confident in embracing technology but at the same time, I am more alert and responsible in my teaching.”

Reaching for new goals

In recent days, the teaching and training atmosphere of teachers and students in the team participating in the national excellent student selection exam, school year 2025 - 2026 has been bustling with a spirit of high determination. Mr. Phan Chi That - English teacher, Huynh Man Dat High School for the Gifted shared: "In the 2025 - 2026 school year, I set a goal for students to achieve higher scores than last year. To achieve the set goal, based on the general plan of the group of training teachers, I built a separate plan, organized and implemented it seriously with the highest determination".

Mr. Pham Ngoc Thien - Principal of Huynh Man Dat High School for the Gifted said: "The school focuses on building a team of teachers who meet the requirements of educational innovation to gradually improve the quality and effectiveness of the school's education. In the 2025 - 2026 school year, the school continues to innovate in management, teaching and learning, ensuring the combination of knowledge teaching with moral education, ideals and skills for students, in which promoting the emulation movement of good teaching, good learning, and implementing intensive training to create a breakthrough in the quality of key education. It is expected that in the first semester of the 2025 - 2026 school year, the school will organize a workshop on "Selection and training of excellent students at the provincial, regional and national levels" and a workshop on "Improving the quality and effectiveness of high school graduation exam preparation".

According to Mr. Tran Quang Bao, promoting the results achieved in the training of excellent students in recent years, in the 2025-2026 school year, the Department of Education and Training will organize early the selection and training of students for the national excellent student competition; select experienced teachers from 3 specialized schools in the province to carry out the training; create conditions for students to study with experts from institutes and universities so that they can supplement their specialized knowledge. Through training, the Department expects the number and quality of awards in the national excellent student competition of the province this year to be higher than last year, including at least 1 first prize.
