Việt NamViệt Nam07/08/2023

In the first 6 months of 2023, despite difficulties due to the volatile world situation affecting production, business and export, trade and service activities still maintained stability and showed many positive signs.

According to the leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade, although the first 6 months of the year were not as affected by the epidemic as last year, in the complicated and unpredictable developments of the world economy, high inflation, the trend of increasing interest rates, tightening monetary policy, gasoline prices, and strong fluctuations in input materials have affected many industries and business sectors. In order to continue to maintain the growth rate and achieve the set plan, the Department of Industry and Trade has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue an Action Plan to implement the import-export strategy in Ninh Thuan province until 2030, and at the same time, deploy many activities and information about trade promotion programs abroad for businesses to know and register to participate. Thereby, 6 units and businesses attended the Conference on promoting cooperation between India and the South Central provinces in Khanh Hoa province; 10 businesses were supported to participate in connecting trade between suppliers in the Central Highlands region and exporting businesses in Da Nang. In addition, deploy to potential export enterprises to attend the online trade promotion conference with the Vietnamese Trade Office system abroad. Continuing to implement Plan No. 829/KH-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on the Socio-Economic Recovery and Development Program, the Industry and Trade sector focuses on supporting enterprises and rural industrial production establishments to apply machinery and equipment in production to increase productivity and product competitiveness in the market. Accordingly, 11 units and enterprises are supported to apply advanced machinery and equipment in production with a total amount of more than 2.5 billion VND, in industries such as: Agricultural product processing, consumer product manufacturing.

In addition, the Center for Industrial Promotion and Trade Promotion actively supports businesses in consuming agricultural products, promoting and introducing products in many forms such as: Connecting trade, organizing meetings for businesses, participating in product exhibitions, connecting supply and demand, creating a favorable environment for developing OCOP products, typical products of the province. By the end of June, it had organized 26 units to participate in trade promotion conferences; organized 31 businesses of the province to meet and connect with major distributors in Ho Chi Minh City.

With the synchronous implementation of solutions, trade activities in the first 6 months of 2023 continued to recover strongly and increase. Total retail sales of goods and consumption in 6 months reached more than 18,757 billion VND, up 18% over the same period, reaching 58%; export turnover value is estimated at 43.8 million USD, reaching 29.2% of the plan. Notably, in the first 6 months of the year, there was a new product, stuffed animals, exported to the UK, US, Australia, etc. markets, with an estimated turnover of 1.7 million USD. Enterprises, commercial centers, supermarket systems and business establishments proactively prepared abundant, rich and diverse sources of goods to serve people's consumption needs. Prices of essential goods did not fluctuate abnormally, and purchasing power in the market continued to grow.

In the last 6 months of the year, the Department of Industry and Trade continues to coordinate with localities to encourage and facilitate enterprises to develop distribution and retail networks; focus on developing service industries towards improving service quality and competitiveness, ensuring the best service for the needs of goods and services for production as well as people's lives. Continue to implement trade promotion programs for special agricultural products, OCOP products of the province associated with the Program to bring Vietnamese goods to rural areas, responding to the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods"; effectively cooperate and link with provinces, cities, and regions to support enterprises in promoting brands, introducing products, and finding customers at home and abroad. Deploying digital transformation in trade promotion activities, focusing on coordinating with specialized departments of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to build a digital trade promotion ecosystem, creating a database to serve trade promotion, promotion, and connecting product consumption nationwide through digital platforms. Strengthening market management, strictly and promptly handling acts of buying and selling counterfeit goods, poor quality goods, and trade fraud, contributing to ensuring healthy market development and protecting the legitimate rights of producers and consumers.
