The peaceful village in Mang Den suddenly attracts visitors thanks to its rice warehouses.

The image of rice warehouses that look like miniature stilt houses, located one after another in the middle of the fields, along the roads, precariously on the edge of hills... in a village in Mang Den, Quang Ngai is attracting the attention of tourists.

Kon Tu Ma village, in Mang Den commune, Quang Ngai province, nestles beside the gentle Dak S'Nghe river, surrounded by lush green fields and vast forests. This is the home of the simple, rustic but rich in identity, Xo Dang ethnic people, bearing the cultural imprint of the Central Highlands.

Not only attractive by the scenery and traditional features, Kon Tu Ma also impresses with dozens of "super small" stilt houses made of bamboo and wood, scattered from the fields, garden corners to the edge of the hill. These unique constructions both arouse curiosity and become unique check-in spots.

In fact, this is the rice granary of the Xo Dang ethnic people.

Since ancient times, people have lived mainly on rice as their main food source. Therefore, people believe that protecting the granary shows respect for the hard work and precious traditions of their ancestors.

The granaries were built like miniature stilt houses, discreet and sturdy to preserve rice for long periods of time, avoiding insects, animals or weather effects.

These granaries are usually built far from houses to reduce the risk of fire and explosion. Although they look quite similar, there is no way to confuse them between families.

Not only a place to store food, the granary is also seen as a symbol of prosperity and solidarity in the community.

Visitors also have the opportunity to experience making handicrafts such as brocade weaving, knitting, cooking, or enjoy mountain cuisine with sticky rice, charcoal-grilled pork, stream fish, field snails, free-range chicken, cassava leaves and fresh wild vegetables.

Kon Tu Ma villagers are developing homestays to welcome overnight tourists, developing sustainable tourism. Tourists can combine a visit to Kon Tu Ma village with Kon Tu Rang village, Kon Chenh village and Kon Tum hydroelectric reservoir.

Kon Tu Rang village is home to the famous suspension bridge, 292m long, an attractive photo backdrop for tourists when coming to Mang Den.

At first glance, this specialty looks like a crab, but its shell is green or yellow, its legs are short, and its color is bright yellow. Quang Ngai people often catch them to stir-fry with tamarind or make vermicelli with crab, when eaten it has a sweet, fragrant, and fatty taste.
