On the afternoon of September 26, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions worked with the Working Group of the Committee on Political Development, Public Participation, Human Rights, Rights, Freedoms and Consumer Protection of the Senate of the Kingdom of Thailand on a number of issues related to human rights and ethnic minorities.

Attending the meeting, on behalf of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, there were Deputy Minister Nguyen Hai Trung, along with leaders of several departments and affiliated units. On behalf of the Thai delegation, there were Senator Norasate Prachyakorn - Chairman of the Committee, and members of the Committee.
On behalf of the working delegation, Senator Norasate Prachyakorn expressed his pleasure at working directly with the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions to listen and learn from practical experiences in recent times to improve the quality of life and protect the legitimate rights of ethnic minorities...

Raising Thailand's difficulties, Senator Norasate Prachyakorn said that currently, Thailand also faces many obstacles in improving the quality of life of ethnic minorities, especially in handling land disputes, granting nationality...
Senator Norasate Prachyakorn hopes that the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs and Religion will share valuable experiences to create a basis and information to help Thailand build and amend laws and policies related to ethnic minorities.
Speaking to the delegation, Deputy Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Nguyen Hai Trung said that Vietnam is a multicultural, multi-ethnic, multi-religious country with 54 ethnic groups living together. Therefore, ethnic work is always a particularly important content for the Party and State of Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hai Trung emphasized that the implementation of ethnic work in recent times by the Vietnamese State has been based on three main goals: Improving the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities; strongly promoting the internal strength, position and identity of ethnic groups, while contributing to the overall development of the country; consolidating and strengthening the great national unity bloc, promoting comprehensive and sustainable development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
Accordingly, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hai Trung informed the working delegation about the implementation as well as the positive results of the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period, Phase I from 2021-2025.
The Deputy Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions said that after only 5 years of implementing the program, more than 13,000 households have been supported with land for production; 54,000 people have received vocational training; more than 479,000 households have enjoyed clean water; temporary and dilapidated houses have been eliminated for more than 42,000 households..., along with many other education , health and cultural policies being implemented synchronously.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hai Trung affirmed: "The National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, along with other programs in the 2021-2025 period, has brought about remarkable results, completely changing the lives of ethnic minorities in the most positive direction."
At the meeting, the two sides also discussed specifically the content, support measures, and handling of a number of issues that are still facing many difficulties when implementing policies for ethnic minorities in the current period.
