Leroy Carter (Chiefs Club) has just received a surprise call-up to the New Zealand squad for the upcoming Rugby Championship. This is the first time Carter has had the opportunity to contribute to the national rugby team.

But joy was quickly replaced by panic when the 26-year-old discovered his passport had been chewed up.

And the "culprit" was his pet dog. This incident forced Leroy Carter to immediately find a way to apply for an emergency passport in order to fly to Argentina in time for the opening match against the Pumas team.

The 26-year-old explained: “I took out my passport to take a photo to send to the team manager and left it on the bedside table. My girlfriend went to the gym and left the dog alone at home, so it sneaked into the room, jumped on the bed and chewed my passport.”

Luckily for him, things were resolved in time. "I managed to get an emergency passport and now everything is probably settled," the star shared.

Before this incident, Carter suddenly received good news while having breakfast with his girlfriend and some teammates. Coach Scott Robertson called and offered him a chance to join the national team.

In New Zealand, rugby is the number one sport and is considered the national sport. From kids playing in the schoolyard to the top professional game, rugby is everywhere.

On national team match days, almost the whole country stops to cheer on the home team.
