On the evening of September 22 (local time), at the Parliament House in Wellington - the national symbol of New Zealand, the Vietnamese Embassy in New Zealand solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
The ceremony was attended by honored guests including Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament Gerry Brownlee; especially Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation who is on a working visit to New Zealand; New Zealand Deputy Foreign Minister Grahame Morton; Vietnamese-American female MP Pham Thi Ngoc Lan; and many guests including representatives of leaders of ministries, branches, agencies, government organizations, localities and cities of New Zealand; representatives of friendship organizations, education, businesses, and friends of New Zealand; ambassadors, high commissioners, representatives of diplomatic corps; Vietnamese civil servants and students studying at universities, representatives of associations and groups of Vietnamese communities in this Oceanian country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to New Zealand Phan Minh Giang emphasized that in 80 years of construction and development, Vietnam has overcome many difficulties and challenges, achieved great and historic achievements, and built the foundation, potential, position and international prestige it has today.
Affirming that the country is standing at a new historical starting point to rise up and take off, Ambassador Phan Minh Giang hopes that all Vietnamese people at home and abroad will unite and join hands to build a rich, prosperous, civilized and happy Vietnam.
To do this, in addition to the constant efforts of generations of Vietnamese people, there is also the valuable cooperation and support of international friends, including New Zealand.
On this occasion, the Ambassador expressed his deep gratitude to international friends, the people of New Zealand and the Vietnamese community in New Zealand, who have always supported and made practical contributions to the cause of building a peaceful , unified, happy, prosperous and developed Vietnam.

Welcoming the strong development of the Vietnam-New Zealand bilateral relationship in recent times, Ambassador Phan Minh Giang expressed his belief that, on the foundation of the relationship that the two countries have worked hard to cultivate over the past 50 years, together with the determination, efforts and close cooperation of both countries, the Vietnam-New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will continue to develop more comprehensively and extensively, contributing to building a prosperous and sustainable future for the people of the two countries.
Attending the ceremony as a guest of honor, Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament Gerry Brownlee warmly congratulated the 80th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, shared the joy with the Vietnamese people and expressed his impression of the development achievements of the "S-shaped country" over the past 80 years, and hoped that the two countries would continue to closely coordinate and effectively implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
Speaking to congratulate Vietnam on this occasion, the representative of the New Zealand Government, New Zealand Deputy Foreign Minister Grahame Morton expressed his admiration for Vietnam's extraordinary and remarkable development achievements in recent years, and highly appreciated Vietnam's strong commitments to ensuring a peaceful environment, multilateral cooperation, sustainable development, contributing to creating a better future for the people.
Deputy Minister Grahame Morton affirmed that these achievements reflect Vietnam's potential, vision and unity, and inspire not only the region but also partners like New Zealand.
Emphasizing that the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership has opened a new chapter of cooperation in Vietnam-New Zealand relations, the representative of the New Zealand Government expressed optimism about the strong and sustainable development of the bilateral relationship in the coming time, with many potentials and open cooperation opportunities ahead.

Attending the ceremony, guests visited the photo exhibition introducing 50 years of Vietnam-New Zealand bilateral relations as well as the country and people of Vietnam. Within the framework of the ceremony, guests enjoyed a special art program, leaving a deep impression on New Zealand and international friends, while also arousing pride and love for the homeland and country in the hearts of overseas Vietnamese and the Vietnamese community in New Zealand.
On this occasion, guests experienced and enjoyed culinary culture and traditional dishes typical of the Vietnamese people./.
