
On the afternoon of October 21, before Fengshen (storm No. 12) made landfall, at My Khe beach (Tinh Khe commune, Quang Ngai province), many people still went swimming and playing with the big waves, despite warnings of danger from authorities.
The entire My Khe beach is about 3km long, with only a group of about 10 people swimming. Immediately upon receiving the report, the Tinh Khe Commune People's Committee directed the beach management team to urgently go to the scene to remind and request people to go ashore and stop swimming immediately.
According to the Quang Ngai Hydrometeorological Station, due to the influence of storm No. 12, the sea area of Quang Ngai province (including Ly Son special zone) currently has strong North to Northwest winds of level 6, level 7, sometimes level 8, gusting to level 9, wave height of 2.5 - 4.5m, rough sea; the area near the storm's center has strong winds of level 8 - 9, gusting to level 10; very rough sea; waves from 3.0 - 6.0m high.
It is forecasted that on the night of October 22, the sea area of Quang Ngai (including Ly Son special zone) will have strong northwest winds of level 7, gusting to level 8-9; very rough seas; waves from 3-5m high. From October 23, the wind is likely to gradually decrease to level 5, gusting to level 6-7; waves from 2-3m high. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to strong winds at sea is level 3.
