This trend is particularly prevalent in China, where 83% of travelers are looking for a holiday focused entirely on sleep. This is followed by Hong Kong and Thailand at 76% and 75% respectively. Vietnam is ranked 6th, tied with Singapore at 67%.
Booking.com also suggests peaceful destinations, suitable for relaxation and health improvement, helping visitors feel relaxed and renew their energy, including: Da Lat, Da Nang, Tam Dao, Suzhou (China), Bali (Indonesia), Koh Samui (Thailand)...
According to data from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in February 2024 reached over 1.53 million, bringing the total number of international visitors in the first two months of the year to more than 3 million, an increase of 68.7% over the same period last year.
In particular, the Chinese tourist market to Vietnam has had a very impressive recovery, 7.5 times higher than the same period in 2023.
Chinese tourists visit the City Post Office
A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that the Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry continues to identify China as a traditional and key tourism market. The city is stepping up promotion, focusing on mid-range and high-end tourists and promoting attractive destinations in cities such as Shanghai, Beijing, etc. Therefore, the Department is working with businesses to re-prepare the source of Chinese tour guides to meet this market.
During a recent seminar introducing Chinese tourist destinations with Sichuan Airlines, Mr. Zhang Chang Heng, General Director of Sichuan Airlines Ticket Office in Vietnam, informed that in 2013, the airline launched its first flight from China to Vietnam.
Before the Covid-19 outbreak, this airline brought nearly 200,000 Chinese tourists to Vietnam. Currently, Sichuan Airlines has opened 4 routes: Chengdu - Ho Chi Minh City, Chengdu - Cam Ranh, Chengdu - Hanoi and Nanning - Ho Chi Minh City with a frequency of 7 flights/week for each route to bring Chinese tourists to Vietnam and vice versa.
