The TV series “Let Go” is the latest work of director and screenwriter Mai Long, revolving around the story of human fates in the vortex of ambition, deception, traps alongside compassion, truth and the will to rise.
The film tells the story of Tinh (actress Thanh Huyen) - a single woman who left her hometown to go to the city to work as a massage therapist to raise her young child living with her grandfather (Mr. Hanh, played by Meritorious Artist Tien Quang).
Tinh's marriage broke down because her husband, Don (played by director Mai Long), was not interested in business but instead gambled and bet on lottery, causing the family to go bankrupt. Tinh went to the city to make money but could not survive the negative side of the profession so she returned to her hometown. Here, she met Hung, a responsible man with a forgiving heart and a loving heart who wanted her to open her heart to him again.

But neither Hung nor Tinh expected that the girlfriend who had returned from abroad, who had had feelings for Hung for a long time, would not accept that Hung loved another woman, so she was determined to destroy him. Traps were set, with the support of some relatives and acquaintances of Hung's family, so that Tinh could not come to Hung...

The film features the participation of many veteran faces in the field of theater and television such as People's Artists Quoc Anh, Hoai Thu, Quoc Tri, Thu Que, Meritorious Artists Kim Xuyen, Doi Quan, Tien Quang (Quang Teo) and Tien Dat.
The film was directed by Mai Long, who is familiar with rural themes and stories about women overcoming adversity. In 2023, he released the film "Touching Happiness", with the participation of many famous actors.

Sharing about the film, Meritorious Artist Tien Quang said that he always wanted to play a role of a soldier or veteran, and in this film he got to play a veteran. This is also a rare film where he did not play a comedy, but a role that brought him many tears. "Usually, acting in comedy is not difficult, but acting in tragedy that brings tears to the audience is difficult. When I look back at my character in the film, I also shed tears. However, the film also has comedic parts that make the tragedy of the character I played less heavy" - Meritorious Artist Tien Quang shared.
Director Mai Long said that he and artist Quang Teo have worked together many times so they understand each other very well, and he chose him because of their harmony in working style and admiration for someone who loves and is passionate about his profession.

The interesting thing about the film is that there are 3 Cheo artists participating, namely People's Artist Quoc Anh, People's Artist Hoai Thu and artist Thanh Huyen. While People's Artist Quoc Anh is a very familiar face in some TV dramas or Tet comedies, People's Artist Hoai Thu and artist Thanh Huyen are both appearing in the film for the first time. Especially artist Thanh Huyen, who plays the main character Tinh, was commented by Meritorious Artist Tien Quang to have a very genuine face, suitable for the role.
Director Mai Long said that the filming process encountered many difficulties. First of all, the film setting with a very simple and rustic riverside house was very difficult to find. The film crew surveyed many different river areas, but all were interspersed with modern details. The filming setting in the film was combined with a dike guard post decorated with bamboo walls, straw, thatch, etc. to create the most suitable house possible.

During filming, because the house was on the riverside, right next to the ferry terminal, there were often ferries passing by, and the engine noise affected the live sound recording. Director Mai Long shared that the film crew often had to pause for the ferry to pass before continuing filming. Therefore, the filming time of “Buong” was extended.
Right after part 1 is released, director Mai Long's team and Quang Hung Group will start filming part 2 of "Let Go" next November.

The film was made in Hop Tien (Nam Sach, old Hai Duong, now Hai Phong ), so it also attracted the attention of the people here. The film's premiere was attended by a large audience from Hop Tien (old). The film's producer, Mr. Quang Hung, also a son of Hai Duong (old) took part in a small role in the film, his first attempt as both an actor and a producer.
Director Mai Long said that the message of the film is not only the story of a woman overcoming life's challenges, but also a mirror of today's life - where people must learn to let go of pain to maintain humanity. "I hope that when watching the film, the audience will find sympathy and faith in kindness" - the director shared.
