Many famous artists will perform at the Opening Ceremony of the Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival

The program is directed and implemented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of Nghe An province; the Department of Culture and Sports of Nghe An and the Vietnam National Music, Dance and Dance Theater jointly stage and implement the program.

With pride in the heritage, the opening art program of the Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival 2023 has the theme: "Vi and Giam - Shining quintessence", aiming to introduce the quintessence of this special folk song to a wide range of domestic and international friends, contributing to preserving, promoting and strongly spreading the value of the heritage in contemporary life. The program is an opportunity for the quintessence of intangible cultural heritage - Vi and Giam folk songs to converge and shine brightly in the homeland of Nghe An. Thereby contributing to affirming the richness and diversity of Vi and Giam heritage; at the same time demonstrating the meeting, exchange, connection and spread of this art form between regions and localities.

The special art program at the opening ceremony focused on the cultural elements typical of Nghe An, combining performances with the most modern technologies such as Hologram, 3D mapping, LED push, 3-layer LED, bringing to the audience realistic, vivid, impressive visual experiences and bringing Vi and Giam music to all senses. The light movements illustrated stories about the source, inspiration as well as the spread of Vi folk songs to the lives of people in the country and the Vietnamese community abroad.

The art program "Vi, Giam - Shining quintessence" at the Opening Ceremony of Nghe Tinh Vi, Giam Folk Song Festival includes 3 chapters, with 13 art performances.

In particular, Chapter 1 “The source of heritage” includes performances showing the typical life of the land of the hot Lao wind, where the Vi and Giam flows were formed. Besides, Vi and Giam were breathed life into by intellectuals, and also nurtured the souls of outstanding celebrities, the most typical representative of which is President Ho Chi Minh.

Chapter 2 “An tinh vi, giam” is a collection of songs that convey the message: The quintessence of intelligence, soul, and temperament of the people of Nghe Tinh, the extremely rich and beautiful spiritual developments of the people of Nghe An are crystallized in the products of Vi, Giam folk culture. This chapter also has a connection between traditional folk songs and modern songs with Vi, Giam melodies.

Chapter 3 "Shining Essence" shows the encounter, exchange, connection and spread of Vi and Giam folk songs with regions, localities and countries.

The program will feature performances by People's Artists Tien Dung, Hong Luu, Meritorious Artist Pham Phuong Thao, singers Vu Thang Loi, Bui Le Man, Thanh Quy, Thanh Tai, Hong Duyen, Ha Quynh Nhu, Huyen Trang (Sao Mai) and especially the participation of two foreign singers, Kyo York (USA) and Cee Jay (Nigeria).

The opening art program of the Nghe Tinh Vi and Giam Folk Song Festival is a night of sound and light, demonstrating the unlimited creativity of artisans and artists on the core foundation of national cultural heritage values, creating a new breeze, new approaches and expressions for traditional heritages in contemporary life, attracting the attention of a large number of people and tourists.
Through the program, audiences across the country will also have a new perspective on Vi Giam folk songs today, a traditional folk song genre with a lasting and intense vitality, originating from labor, quietly permeating the souls of the people of Nghe An and spreading strongly in contemporary life.
