At 2:00 p.m. this afternoon (June 25), more than 1 million candidates nationwide entered the 2025 high school graduation exam by performing personal information verification procedures at the exam location and participating in exam regulations. This year's high school graduation exam has many very special features.

This is the first year the exam is held for two groups of candidates following two different general education programs, with two separate sets of exam questions and regulations.

12th grade candidates will take the exam with questions set according to the 2018 General Education program. Independent candidates who have studied the old program but have not graduated will take the exam with questions set according to the 2006 General Education program.

In particular, the exam took place right before the two-level local government system came into operation from July 1, so the exam was organized with three-level local governments, but the exam marking and announcement of exam results were done with two-level local governments.

For 12th grade candidates taking the exam according to the 2018 General Education Program, the 2025 High School Graduation Exam will be organized into 3 sessions, 1 session shorter than previous exams, including 1 session for literature, 1 session for math and 1 session for elective exam. Candidates will be arranged by elective exam subject to optimize exam rooms and exam scores.

This afternoon, at the exam locations, candidates should check their personal information. If they find any errors in their personal information, they should immediately notify the supervisor or staff on duty at the exam location for timely handling.

"Teaching in class, teachers are free to be creative, but when it comes to exam supervision, they must follow the regulations. Any questions, they need to ask the higher-level exam steering committee immediately, do not hide them, do not try to handle them yourself," the head of the education sector requested.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place over 3 days (June 25, 26, 27), of which June 25 will be the day for exam registration procedures, and the backup exam date will be June 28. Nationwide, 1,165,289 candidates have registered to take the exam, an increase of nearly 100,000 candidates compared to 2024.

The exam was held at 2,493 testing sites with 50,039 testing rooms nationwide, mobilizing about 200,000 officials, teachers, staff and functional forces to participate.
