(NLDO) – The Sea Rescue Team and the Public Order Management Team are silent forces that contribute to preserving the safe and civilized brand of Da Nang tourist beaches.
During Tet holidays, the Son Tra Peninsula Management Board's Operation Station ( Da Nang City Department of Tourism) still operates non-stop. Just having time to wish each other a few New Year's greetings, the Rescue Team staff at Da Nang's tourist beaches split up to work. At this time, the clock just struck 4:30 am.
The presence of the Da Nang beach rescue team brings peace of mind to residents and tourists when swimming in the sea.
The silent yellow shirt heroes
Present, instructing the team about the work at the beginning of the year, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vinh, Captain of the Rescue Team, reminded the whole team to ensure safety, even during the holidays, they must not be negligent, otherwise they will pay a high price with the lives of the victims and the rescuers themselves.
The rescue team currently has only 96 people, divided into 20 groups, carrying out the task of guiding beachgoers, ensuring the safety of people and beachgoers within the management area stretching over 30km along the two coastal routes of Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap - Truong Sa and Nguyen Tat Thanh.

During Tet, the team is still on duty 100%, ensuring the safety of people and tourists when swimming in the sea. Although knowing that drinking alcohol is unavoidable during Tet, Team Leader Nguyen Quoc Vinh advised his colleagues to limit their consumption and thoroughly implement the spirit of "no alcohol concentration while working".
"It's not only about the quality of lifeguards, but lifeguards are also the face of the tourist beach. So for a long time we have strictly controlled the use of alcohol while working," Mr. Vinh explained further.
One of the "sea keepers" of Da Nang, bringing safety and civilization to the city's tourist beaches
This year, Nguyen Tan Tai (a lifeguard) jokingly said he "celebrated Tet on the beach". After more than 15 years in the profession, he can't remember how many times he and his colleagues have saved people between life and death. According to Tai, in addition to rescue skills, quick reactions and good swimming, lifeguards must be calm when approaching victims to ensure their own safety and save the victim.
"At the same time, the lifeguards themselves must also be equipped with communication, behavioral and tourist guidance skills. From there, we can create a friendly, civilized and safe image for Da Nang's tourist beaches," Mr. Tai added.
According to incomplete statistics, from 2017 to present, Da Nang Sea Rescue Team has saved at least 549 cases safely.
Continuing, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Vinh affirmed that with the special activity of being on duty underwater, the first and most important thing is the sense of responsibility and compliance with the unit's regulations, never being allowed to lose focus. "Protecting the safety of people and tourists also contributes to beautifying the image of the tourist city of Da Nang" - said the Captain of the Rescue Team.
Coordinated patrol team to ensure maritime security and order
Not only is it safe for tourists to swim, but on the beach, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches also established a "Patrol Team to ensure maritime security and order" based on coordination between the Tourism Order Management Team and the Phuoc My Ward Police force.
The joy of tourist Jimmy Thai when he was assisted in getting back his lost property
Recently, on January 25, the patrol team coordinated and found the lost phone of tourist Jimmy Thai (26 years old, Canadian nationality). Previously, at 12 noon on January 24, the Tourism Order Management Team received a report from this tourist about dropping his phone on the sand at My An beach (Vo Nguyen Giap street, Ngu Hanh Son district).
The incident happened around 11am the same day, tourist Jimmy Thai asked some people at the beach to search but got no results so he returned to the hotel in disappointment. Afterwards, the security team stepped in and found the phone buried in the sand, but there was no information about the owner.
Next, the Tourist Order Management Team asked many beachgoers in the area, and at 3 p.m. the same day, they received information about Jimmy Thai at a hotel in My An ward. On January 25, tourist Jimmy Thai came to the team's control station to receive his phone back in surprise and joy. "Thank you to the beach force for helping me find my phone. Everyone here is very dedicated and willing to help, the beach is very beautiful, the city is wonderful, I am very grateful to you all," tourist Jimmy Thai said excitedly.³
The tourism order management team coordinated with local police to arrest a subject who specializes in stealing on the beaches, thereby maintaining the safe and civilized image of Da Nang beach tourism.
Not only does the "Coordinated Patrol Team to Ensure Maritime Security and Order" assist tourists in finding lost property, it also coordinates with the police force to patrol and close off the area. On October 23, the patrol team ambushed and caught Ho Ngoc Viet (born in 2005, residing in Kim Thach commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province) stealing property from a foreign tourist who was swimming in the My Khe beach area.
It is worth mentioning that Ho Ngoc Viet is a "professional" thief with 7 successful thefts also on My Khe beach. After handing over the case to the police, all the evidence was confiscated and handed over to the owner. The case was recognized by the local authorities as well as the Son Tra District Police, who highly appreciated the work of ensuring security and order at the facility.
Representatives of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches said that during the traditional Tet holiday of At Ty 2025, in parallel with the carefully prepared beach entertainment and service activities to open to serve spring tourists visiting Da Nang beaches, the Management Board continues to increase the deployment of staff on duty throughout the Tet holiday, deploy buoys in safe bathing areas; organize a beach cleaning program to prepare for Tet with the theme "Cleaning Da Nang Beach - Ready for Tet".
In the long term, the Management Board will continue to maintain and promote the operating model of the Sea Rescue Team and the Order Management Team. At the same time, there will be proposals to support and improve the lives and incomes of team members, helping them stick with the profession. Thereby, ensuring and maintaining the safe and civilized brand of Da Nang sea tourism.
