Ms. Trieu Thi Yen (second from right), Party cell secretary, Standing member of Phu Son village, Cam Van commune, discusses ways to preserve Dao ethnic costumes with her sisters.
In Phu Son village, Cam Van commune, people have given many compliments to Ms. Trieu Thi Yen, Party cell secretary, head of the village's Fatherland Front work committee (TBCTMT), who is not only a Party cell secretary who wholeheartedly serves the people but also an exemplary person in preserving Dao ethnic culture and actively participating in new rural construction.
Phu Son village has 120 households, 580 people, all of whom are Dao ethnic people. People mainly produce agriculture - forestry, small-scale industry and services. As the leader, Ms. Yen has not been afraid of difficulties, making efforts to propagate and mobilize people to preserve the ethnic cultural identity and eliminate bad customs. She and the elderly in the village opened a class to teach Dao language, mobilized women to preserve the craft of sewing ethnic costumes, contributing to preserving the traditional culture of the Dao ethnic group and helping the younger generation not forget their roots.
Party cell secretary, Secretary of the Party Central Committee of Trieu Thi Yen village propagated and encouraged people to change the structure of crops and livestock and apply science and technology to production, thereby changing old farming methods and striving to escape poverty... In building a model new-style rural village, Ms. Yen mobilized households in the village and children far from home to donate more than 2,000 square meters of land, contributing nearly 2 billion VND, hundreds of laborers to relocate electric poles, expand and concretize traffic routes, intra-field canals, repair cultural houses; plant and take care of flower roads, trees...
Before July 1, 2025, as the leader, Ms. Yen always thoroughly encouraged cadres, party members, and people in the village to support the major policies of the Party and State; actively and proactively participate in economic , social, and cultural development in rural areas, especially remote villages and hamlets to narrow the gap between mountainous and delta areas, creating unified and sustainable development... when the 2-level local government model comes into operation. With enthusiasm and perseverance, the Party cell secretary and the Standing Committee of the Trieu Thi Yen village is continuing to write a beautiful story about the love for the homeland and people with all the heart of a Dao woman in the highlands.
In Ban Tho village, Nong Cong commune, Party cell secretary and village chief Le Thi Hong is honored by the people as a "female leader". That is because, for more than 10 years of working for the Party, from cell committee member (2015), deputy party cell secretary (2017), then party cell secretary and village chief (from 2020 to present), she has always left a prominent mark in all activities and movements in the locality.
Ms. Hong determined that in order to gain the trust of the people and the cadres and party members in the Party cell, she must build her reputation by being a good example, saying what she does and doing what she says. She always upholds the sense of responsibility, takes the lead in work, and at the same time, is close to and listens to the opinions and aspirations of the people to solve problems right at the grassroots level.
At first, her position as Party cell secretary and village chief faced many difficulties, especially the skepticism from the senior Party members in the cell. Because a young woman leading the cell and directing economic development and building a model new rural area was a big challenge, requiring effort and courage. However, with determination, responsibility and the ability to learn, Ms. Hong fulfilled her role and achieved remarkable successes.
Under the leadership of the 8X female "leader", Ban Tho village has had positive changes in socio-economic development. Mobilizing people to apply science and technology, change the structure of crops, seasons and develop farm and family economy has brought about significant changes in production. The village has formed a high-yield, high-quality rice production area; dozens of households raising livestock according to the farm and family farm model and providing services have contributed to bringing the average income per capita (in 2025) to an estimated more than 82 million VND/year. The economy is stable, people actively participate in building a model new-style rural village. From 2022 to now, from the support of successful children living far away from home and the contributions of the people, Ban Tho village has completed the campus, purchased equipment for the village cultural house, concretized traffic routes, built a bridge and a village gate with a value of more than 2.5 billion VND. Party cell secretary and village chief Le Thi Hong is now seen by the people of Ban Tho village as a dedicated "leader", always exemplary in leading movements, actively contributing to the successful construction of a model new-style rural village.
Ms. Yen and Ms. Hong are just two of thousands of other female leaders in localities who are actively participating in emulation movements and campaigns, effectively contributing to socio-economic development from the grassroots and increasingly enhancing the position and role of women.
