Ready for Cham Cultural Festival
On September 17, Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Thuan province, said that up to this point, the programs have been carefully prepared so that the 6th Cham Cultural Festival will take place as planned, ready to welcome Cham people and tourists to participate.
The festival with the theme "Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Cham ethnic group in the period of national integration and development", taking place from September 27 to 29, 2024, in Phan Rang-Thap Cham City, Ninh Thuan Province, chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, in coordination with the provinces of Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Binh Thuan, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Quang Nam , Da Nang City and Ho Chi Minh City.
This is considered a political activity for the Cham people to introduce their unique and characteristic cultural features. It is expected that nearly 500 Cham artisans, artists, and athletes from 9 provinces and cities will participate, representing more than 179,000 Cham people nationwide.
The opening ceremony of the Festival will take place at 8:00 p.m. on September 27, 2024, at the April 16 Square-Monument, Phan Rang-Thap Cham City; the closing ceremony of the Festival will take place at 8:00 p.m. on September 29, 2024 at the above location.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, the highlight of the Festival lies in the opening and closing art programs. The opening night has the theme “Sparkling colors of Cham culture”, each province and city will bring the most unique performance of their region.
Also on the opening night, the decision to recognize two national treasures of Ninh Thuan province will be announced, including the statue of King Po Klong Garai (currently worshiped by the Cham people in the Po Klong Garai temple tower in Do Vinh ward, Phan Rang - Thap Cham city) and the Phuoc Thien stele (preserved and displayed for visitors at the Ninh Thuan Provincial Museum).
The Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thuan province expressed that the event is also an opportunity to promote the unique cultural features of Ninh Thuan, the strengths of its landscapes, creating favorable opportunities for the public and tourists to participate at any time when coming to the locality. According to statistics, the whole Ninh Thuan province has more than 210 accommodation establishments with over 4,680 rooms; of which over 50% of the rooms are of 3-star quality or higher. The authorities have issued instructions to ensure tourism security, requiring tourism businesses to focus on ensuring food safety and hygiene, fire prevention, selling at the correct listed price, contributing to building a safe, friendly and attractive tourism environment.
Many special activities honoring Cham ethnic culture
The 6th Cham Ethnic Cultural Festival was held to affirm the Party and State's attention to the work of preserving and promoting national culture in general, and Cham ethnic culture in particular.
Through the Festival, the Organizing Committee wants to introduce the unique cultural values of the Cham people such as dance, music, architecture, traditional crafts, musical instruments, cultural heritages, especially the Cham tower system, etc. to the public, while affirming the extremely important contributions of the Cham cultural heritage value to the local socio-economic development, etc.

During the 3 days of organization, the Festival will include cultural activities that strongly demonstrate the cultural identity of the Cham people such as performances and introductions of festivals and traditional cultural rituals of the Cham people; exhibition space to introduce and promote cultural and tourism products, the country, people and socio-economic achievements, traditional cuisine of localities; performances and introductions of traditional brocade weaving and pottery making crafts of the Cham people; mass art festival and performance of traditional Cham costumes; exhibition "Cultural characteristics of the Cham people in the cultural community of Vietnamese ethnic groups"; display of art photos on the cultural colors of the Cham people accompanying the development of the country; exhibition of fine art paintings on Cham culture.
On this occasion, a tourism seminar with the theme "Promoting the value of Cham cultural heritage in tourism development" will be held, with the participation of cultural and tourism experts, cultural researchers, etc. to find solutions to develop ethnic culture associated with local tourism development.
In addition, there are also traditional sports activities: competitions in Tug of War, Stick Pushing, Soccer (mini men), Volleyball (men), Water Team (women), Cross Country (men, women). Localities in Ninh Thuan province will also join the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center to open booths to display and promote OCOP products and cuisine, tourism products to people and tourists participating in the Festival at the Square - Monument area of April 16.
