Khanh Hung commune residents mobilized machines to pump water.

At the dike area of Roc Do hamlet, Khanh Hung commune, about 150 hectares of rice of farmers in the ripening stage were seriously affected. The reason was that the amount of local rainfall combined with flood water from upstream was at a high level, the water in the fields could not drain, so people used dozens of pumps to drain the water to save the rice, causing more expenses.

Mr. Mai Thanh Hung, Khanh Hung commune said: "My family's 2.5 hectares of rice are ready to be harvested in the next few days. Due to the impact of rain and floods, the water level outside the canal is about 1.5 meters higher than the field surface, the water cannot drain, I have to put the water pump out. For more than a month, on rainy days, the pump has had to run 24/7, costing about 2 million VND more per hectare of rice for fuel."

According to a quick report from Khanh Hung commune, in the 2025 Autumn-Winter rice crop, the whole commune planted more than 1,260 hectares, of which about 150 hectares were in low-lying areas, the dyke system was not complete so it was affected by rapid flood rise.

Faced with that situation, the locality and local households hired vehicles to reinforce weak dike sections to protect this rice area.

Vice Chairman of Khanh Hung Commune People's Committee Nguyen Hoang Em said: "In the commune, there are about 150 hectares of rice located in a weak dike section. Recently, the locality mobilized local forces and means to reinforce it. Currently, this dike section is stable, the dike elevation is about 60cm higher than the flood level. With the flood level increasing by 1-2cm day and night as it is now, this rice area is safe. However, the locality is not subjective, regularly sending forces to participate in surveys to proactively respond promptly when flood waters rise."

People of Tuyen Binh commune organize to reinforce the dike to protect rice.

In Tuyen Binh commune, although the locality did not recommend farmers to plant the Autumn-Winter rice crop to limit damage caused by flood and high tide risks, farmers spontaneously planted nearly 4,000 hectares of this crop.

Over the past few days, flood water levels in the commune have risen rapidly, threatening hundreds of hectares of rice. Authorities and people are making efforts to respond and limit damage.

In Rach May hamlet, there are about 120 hectares of rice in the tillering stage. The dike protecting this rice area has many low points, the dike surface is only 20 - 30cm above the water surface.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Danh, Tuyen Binh commune, this year the flood water is very high, farmers are facing difficulties in producing the Autumn-Winter rice crop. Currently, the water level is close to the dike, people in the area contribute money to rent vehicles and contribute labor to reinforce weak sections on the dike to protect the rice.

Motor vehicles are mobilized to reinforce dikes to protect rice fields.

Vice Chairman of Tuyen Binh Commune People's Committee Ta Thanh Do said: "In the face of rising flood water levels, more than 500 hectares of rice fields in the commune have been affected. The locality is actively mobilizing people to reinforce weak dykes to minimize flood water affecting these dykes."

Faced with the complicated situation of rain and floods, local authorities recommend that people closely follow weather developments, drain water and reinforce dykes in a timely manner to avoid damage./.
