Quang Hai withdrew from the Vietnamese national team due to injury.
Due to not having recovered from an injury to his right shoulder, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai will not be able to participate in the FIFA Days gathering of the Vietnamese team in October to prepare for two matches against Nepal in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
On October 3, one day before the training session, Quang Hai was taken for an MRI scan to assess the extent of the injury. The results showed that the midfielder needed more time to rest to ensure the recovery process.

Coach Kim Sang-sik agreed with the doctor's instructions and reported to the leadership of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to decide not to call Quang Hai up for this training session, and at the same time encouraged him to focus on treatment.
Coach Kim Sang-sik also did not call up additional replacement players, thereby reducing the current team size to 23 people, exactly the number registered to compete according to the regulations.
Vietnam team before the match against Nepal: Quang Hai absent, Van Lam returns
Previously, the injury caused Quang Hai to miss three international matches of Hanoi Police Club in AFC Champions League Two and the 2025-2026 Southeast Asian Club Championship, as well as being unable to participate in the national team's training session during FIFA Days in September.
According to the plan, today (October 4), the Vietnamese team will officially gather in Ho Chi Minh City. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will have 5 days of training before entering the first leg against Nepal at 7:30 p.m. on October 9 at Binh Duong Stadium (Thu Dau Mot, Ho Chi Minh City).
The return match will take place at 7:30 p.m. on October 14 at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC). The return match was originally scheduled to be played in Nepal, but the other team has given the right to host the match to Vietnam.
The organizers have announced plans to sell tickets for these two matches at two prices: 200,000 VND and 400,000 VND. Tickets will be released exclusively online on the OneU app (formerly VinID) in two phases: from September 29 to October 5 and from October 6 to October 7, or until sold out. In addition, the organizers will also open direct sales at the ticket counters at Binh Duong Stadium and Thong Nhat Stadium from October 4.
