People's Artist Thu Ha: Life always looks forward

One October morning on the banks of Hoan Kiem Lake, enjoying a cup of coffee with many artists attending the 2022 Capital Theater Festival, we heard People's Artist Thu Ha talk about a rather quiet period in her life.

Life always has many twists and turns. The important thing is that we must always look forward, accept challenges, and accept difficulties to grow. People's Artist Thu Ha opened the story with her reflections like that.

Reporter: Up to now, are you satisfied with what you have achieved in your career?

- People's Artist THU HA: I am satisfied. People sometimes encounter twists and turns in life as an inevitable part. No one can predict the ups and downs of life, with life surrounded by "food, clothing, rice, money". Only when looking forward, life will not make us regret.

Was there a time when you thought about writing a memoir about your life and artistic career?

- No. In my opinion, memoir is a literary genre and to be interesting, it may need a bit of fiction, although honesty is always necessary. I myself come to life and career gently and calmly, without too many things to tell or share. The lessons of my profession I can share through my own roles.

Still maintaining the figure and beauty of a beauty once considered a beauty in the cinema industry, still being called "jade leaves and golden branches" by the audience, what is your secret?

- I like doing sports , jogging around West Lake every morning or cycling. Maybe thanks to that I keep my health quite good.

The name I got after I starred in the movie "The Golden Leaf" was given by the audience. I never dared to think of myself as "the golden leaf". I am still me, calmly accepting life, experiencing many hardships, enduring many thorns to gain experience in transforming into a character. That is me, a Thu Ha who is always devoted to her profession.

Are you participating in any new film projects?

- I am participating in the 30-episode series "Narrow Alley In-Law" directed by Trinh Le Phong, which will soon be broadcast on VTV3. This is a comedy, and my role is only a character that appeared after the film had held a press conference and started filming. However, it is a new and quite interesting character.

Why didn't you participate in the Capital Theater Festival this year?

- I think this playground is for young actors, I should choose another place to appear but still be in a position to accompany them. What I expect are plays about the capital Hanoi , contemporary issues that the public is interested in.

.Putting yourself in the audience seats at the Capital Theater Festival 2022, what do you think?

- I have seen works such as: "Trung trinh liet nu" of the Vietnam Cheo Theatre, "Thuy Kieu - Mot kiep doan truong" of the Hanoi Drama Theatre, "Cau hat tim nhau" of the Sen Viet Stage... I am happy to see the audience enthusiastically come to watch and cheer for the artists. It is even more joyful and touching when the Southern artists "rice boat friends" use their own money to make the play and bring it to the festival.

Many young actors have performed their roles well and emotionally. This shows that the theater has a successor.

Still a mainstay artist of Hanoi Drama Theater, do you hope to have a chance to reunite with Ho Chi Minh City audiences?

- It's been a long time since Hanoi Drama Theater has toured the South, I crave a space filled with applause that the audience in Ho Chi Minh City gives us.

Ho Chi Minh City, above all, is my entire youth. I still look forward to a reunion with the city’s audience, dreaming of having the opportunity to perform with my colleagues from the South. That atmosphere will certainly leave me with many beautiful memories.
