Mr. Trump confirmed that an American investor has bought TikTok

President Trump announced on September 16 that the US and China had reached an important agreement related to the TikTok application.

Accordingly, TikTok will continue to operate in the US and the company's assets here will be transferred from ByteDance (China) to Washington investors.

Reuters news agency commented that this agreement can be seen as a breakthrough in months of negotiations between the US and China to cool down trade tensions, which have caused global markets to fluctuate over time.

TikTok currently has about 170 million users in the US, and the needs of young people played an important role in this decision.

Speaking to reporters ahead of his state visit to the UK, Mr Trump said: "We have a deal for TikTok. There are a group of very large companies that want to buy it," but he did not reveal details of the investors. He stressed that a conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping on September 19 would confirm everything.

The US leader also praised the trade deal as a step to upgrade bilateral relations and preserve TikTok’s estimated economic value of tens of billions of dollars. He shared that many parents have contacted him because their children want to continue using the app.

However, the deal still needs to be approved by the Republican-controlled US Congress .

Previously, Congress passed a law requiring TikTok to be separated from ByteDance due to concerns that US user data could be accessed by China for espionage or political influence.

The Trump administration has repeatedly refused to enforce a law that would force TikTok to shut down over concerns it would anger users and disrupt political communications, instead extending the sale deadline three times.

Mr. Trump also believes that TikTok helped him win the presidential election last year, with his personal account on the platform now having 15 million followers. The White House also recently set up an official account on TikTok.

According to CNBC, the deal is expected to be completed in the next 30-45 days and will include both existing ByteDance investors and new investors. The US operations will be spun off into a separate company, based in the US and run primarily by US investors.

Oracle, the cloud computing giant that has been involved in TikTok's US infrastructure, is said to be key to the deal.

The framework agreement was agreed by the two sides on September 15, marking an important step forward after months of tense negotiations amid ongoing trade disputes and technology export controls between the US and China.

The final deal is expected to be confirmed in a call between Mr. Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on September 19.
