Comrade LE NHU TIEN, former Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture, Education , Youth, Adolescents and Children (now the Committee on Culture and Society), former reporter of the People's Army Newspaper:

Qualities that make a brand

In 1979, from the School of Information Technology Command Officers (now the School of Information Officers), I carried my backpack to the editorial office of the People's Army Newspaper right at the time of the battle to protect the northern border. I was called by the Head of the Military Editorial Department (now the National Defense-Security Editorial Department) to be assigned to go to Hill X to reflect the steadfast fighting spirit of the troops... After 9 years working at the People's Army Newspaper, I changed my profession and became a National Assembly delegate of the 12th and 13th terms. Having held many positions, I am always grateful to the People's Army Newspaper for nurturing and training us young reporters to grow up.

During the 75-year journey of the People's Army Newspaper, I have been both a direct reporter and a regular reader of the Newspaper. The Newspaper has made great strides in all aspects, but has always maintained the courage, prestige and quality of a leading political newspaper. The team of journalists of the People's Army Newspaper has "bright eyes, pure hearts, sharp pens" and is also very emotional. The cadres and reporters of the People's Army Newspaper always rush forward, stay at the forefront of the storm, difficulties, hardships, closely follow reality to reflect, propagate, and multiply advanced models... with creative and influential expressions. The People's Army Newspaper always records authentic, pure, simple images and many examples of Uncle Ho's soldiers in wartime as well as peacetime, while fighting, promptly and sharply criticizing bad things, and strongly refuting distorted and hostile arguments. Newspaper is a friend, a trusted comrade of soldiers and people, a bridge for people to understand and trust the Party, State and Army.

I have great confidence and expectations in the young generation of reporters of the People's Army Newspaper today. They are young, strong, and energetic, daring to go to difficult and arduous places from the border to the islands, amidst natural disasters and enemy attacks. They are also people with solid qualifications and expertise, and extensive knowledge... But most importantly, they always maintain the qualities of journalists and soldiers that have created the brand of the People's Army Newspaper: Dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility, ready to go to the most difficult and dangerous places, blending in with the lives of the people and soldiers to record vivid images and stories... The generation of reporters of the People's Army Newspaper today will follow in the footsteps of their fathers and brothers to build a "main force" on the ideological and cultural front...

Associate Professor, Dr. BUI HOAI SON, National Assembly delegate of Hanoi City, full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Social Affairs:

Keep the spirit of journalist - soldier

I have always been deeply impressed with the journalistic style of the People's Army Newspaper - a twice-heroic newspaper, carrying the heart of a soldier and the fire of a revolutionary journalist: mature, honest, standard and full of social responsibility. Each article, each page of the newspaper exudes the spirit of discipline, serious style and fighting spirit not only with the pen but also with the mettle and personality of Uncle Ho's soldiers in peacetime.

What I admire most is the team of reporters and editors of the People's Army Newspaper - real journalist-soldiers. They are not only good at their jobs and knowledgeable about society, but also always maintain the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers: steadfast in their ideals, loyal to the Party, attached to the people, devoted to the most difficult places, quietly but bravely bringing back news, shining examples, and touching stories. In you, the "soldier's demeanor" blends with the "professional journalist style" to create the unique identity of the People's Army Newspaper. In the digital age, when the press is changing strongly, the People's Army Newspaper still maintains its steel and orientation, is still the "flag" in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, spreading the values of truth, goodness, and beauty, contributing to building social trust. That comes from a cultured editorial office: Working scientifically, disciplined but full of creativity; keep the "soldier quality" but constantly innovate to keep up with the times.

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the first issue of the People's Army Newspaper, I believe that, in the flow of modern journalism, the qualities of a journalist-soldier are still the core values that the People's Army Newspaper needs to continue to preserve and promote. Because it is not only a tradition but also a spiritual strength, helping the newspaper continue to be a "solid citadel" on the ideological and cultural front; a voice of faith, of the people, of the Fatherland in the new era of development.

Major General PHAM VAN TY, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Committee for Incident, Disaster Response and Search and Rescue, Deputy Director of the Department of Search and Rescue, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army:

Silent warriors on the journey of international charity

As Commander-in-Chief of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the Vietnam People's Army delegation participating in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in Türkiye (February 2023) and recently in Myanmar (March 2025), I had the opportunity to work with many elite forces of our Army. In that team, there were reporters from the People's Army Newspaper equipped with pens, notebooks, cameras, camcorders, and computers. Through these particularly important international missions, I had many deep emotions and highly appreciated the soldiers on the information front, who contributed significantly to the overall success of the delegation.

First, the spirit of readiness to go and the high sense of responsibility of a soldier. When the order to carry out an international mission is deployed, the time pressure is extremely great. Similar to the engineering and medical forces, the reporters also determined that this is a combat mission, an unspoken order from the heart. With the style of soldiers, they did not hesitate, urgently arranged all work, ready to go to the most dangerous place with the highest sense of responsibility.

Second, solid professional qualifications contribute to strongly spreading the image of the Vietnam People's Army. During the mission in Türkiye and Myanmar, the journalistic works of the People's Army Newspaper reporters became the fastest and most accurate information bridge between the working delegation and the homeland and international friends. With high professional qualifications, the comrades are very flexible in propaganda: Continuously updating news, writing in-depth articles, many realistic images and vivid video clips... to post on the publications and social networking platforms of the People's Army Newspaper. Through each frame and article, readers clearly feel the noble mission we are carrying out, see the inheritance and promotion of the heroic Vietnamese national tradition, the heroic Vietnam People's Army and the noble qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers. From there, the responsibility and determination of rescue soldiers in particular and the international spirit of the People's Army of Vietnam in general are portrayed.

Third, dedication, enthusiasm, and disregard for hardship and danger. The field in the earthquake disaster areas is filled with ruins, harsh weather, and overwhelming pain. In that context, reporters always stand shoulder to shoulder with search and rescue forces. They also sneak into any location to capture the most authentic images. After a long day of hard work with the team, when night falls, reporters still continue their work. They stay up all night at the computer to write articles, send data to the editorial office, and ensure that information is always available and timely. That selfless work is truly admirable.

Fourth, creativity and initiative, raising the position of the working group. One of the points I highly appreciate in the reporters is their initiative and creativity. They not only passively recorded what the Vietnam People's Army delegation did, but also actively interviewed and exploited information from other international rescue forces, from the government and people of other countries. Thanks to that, we have objective assessments and respectful acknowledgments from international friends about the level, capacity and humanitarian spirit of the Vietnam People's Army. This valuable information is objective and convincing evidence, contributing to promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam as peace-loving and always ready to join hands for the international community.

Fifth, the spirit of teamwork and self-sacrifice for the common mission. There are extremely urgent times, after finishing work, capturing precious moments, the reporters do not hesitate, ready to put down the camera, roll up their sleeves to join the engineers to supply water or help bring necessary items to the rescue team during the search for victims. That action, though small, has erased all boundaries between journalists and rescue soldiers. That shows that in all circumstances, the qualities and orders from the heart of Uncle Ho's soldiers always rise strongly, not afraid of anything - a precious quality, the clearest proof of the title of journalist-soldier.

In the overall success of the Vietnam People's Army delegations in Türkiye and Myanmar, there is a silent but extremely important contribution from the People's Army Newspaper reporters. They are truly soldiers on the information front, cultural ambassadors bringing the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers closer to the world.
