Phan Dang Hoang brings Nguyen Gia Tri lacquer paintings to Milan

For the fourth time, designer Phan Dang Hoang brought a fashion collection inspired by famous Vietnamese painters to Milan Fashion Week.

Following the success at Milan Fashion Week last season, designer Phan Dang Hoang will bring to the fashion capital of Milan a new collection called Lacquer .

This collection is inspired by the paintings of famous painter Nguyen Gia Tri, famous for his traditional lacquer paintings reflecting the beauty of culture, people, and landscapes of Vietnamese villages.

Once again Phan Dang Hoang chose design inspiration from famous artists.

Phan Dang Hoang told Tuoi Tre Online that he also felt pressured and afraid that people would get bored because he had previously taken design inspiration from three other famous painters: Nguyen Phan Chanh, Le Pho and Le Thi Luu.

He decided to still take design inspiration from paintings because of his desire to honor timeless beauty, affirming the lasting value created by the skillful hands and dedication of skilled workers.

Phan Dang Hoang said the Lacquer collection includes 30 designs for men and women. Regarding materials, this time Phan Dang Hoang uses more than 80% of environmentally friendly fabrics such as: silk, linen, Lan My A...

In particular, for the first time he applied Lanh My A into design with the desire to promote Vietnamese silk to international friends through Milano Fashion Week Spring Summer 2026 .

The details and layers of fabric, like layers of paint applied over and over again, create a design that retains the aesthetic depth of a classic lacquer painting.

Phan Dang Hoang brings many warm and bright colors from the paintings of famous painter Nguyen Gia Tri into the collection. In which, the yellow and red colors symbolize the image of the Vietnamese national flag, expressing the national spirit.

“The message Hoang wants to convey is love for the homeland told from the creative perspective of art lovers.

Through the Lacquer collection, Hoang hopes that international friends will learn more about the cultural values, beautiful landscapes, and people of Vietnam when looking at each line in the fashion designs" - Phan Dang Hoang shared.

The Lacquer collection will be presented at Milan Fashion Week Spring Summer 2026 on September 28.
