In the general development process of the province, agriculture always plays a fundamental role, is the " economic pillar", associated with the life, employment and income of the people.
In recent years, agricultural production has achieved many outstanding results, shifting from agricultural production to agricultural economy, forming smart agriculture, clean agriculture, organic agriculture, green agriculture in a modern and sustainable direction, contributing significantly to the socio-economic growth of the province.
Agriculture is gradually transforming farming methods from traditional to modern and smart. |
Bright spots in agricultural production
In recent years, the agricultural sector has focused on directing the shift from agricultural production to agricultural economic development; promoting production reorganization, converting crops and livestock in a concentrated direction, applying high technology, producing according to VietGAP, GlobalGAP, organic standards, with traceability, and adapting to climate change.
At the same time, develop a number of concentrated, large-scale production areas; build and maintain agricultural product brands and growing area codes. More and more OCOP products and exported agricultural products are being improved in design and diversified to meet market demands.
Besides, the province effectively participates in the Project on Sustainable Development of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030.
Accordingly, enterprises and cooperatives are also actively participating in green production from local raw materials. Many units have boldly invested in processing lines, applied modern technology in processing, and made use of typical local agricultural products such as rice, sweet potatoes, coconuts, oranges, grapefruits, etc.
Mr. Doan Van Tai - Director of Tan Dat Agricultural Production and Service Cooperative (Trung Ngai Commune) said: The Cooperative specializes in producing, processing, and trading organic rice products and products processed from rice. In recent times, the Cooperative has maintained and developed production according to international organic standards (USDA, EU, JAS, Canada).
The Cooperative has also promoted the application of high technology and modern machinery and equipment in production and processing to improve the competitiveness of products in the market.
Producing many green products with ingredients entirely from coconut water, Ms. Truong Thi Cam Hong - Director of Cuu Long Coconut Products Processing Company Limited (Phu Khuong Ward) said: With a closed production system, fermenting raw materials on-site, proactive in the quality of input materials, the company has constantly learned from experience, improved and perfected technology to bring products from natural, safe, quality, and benign ingredients to consumers.
Many OCOP products and agricultural products have improved designs to meet market demands. |
“Every year, the company imports 1,000 tons of coconut water. Currently, the company has 17 product lines made 100% from coconut water, not only consumed domestically, on e-commerce platforms but also available in Korea and Taiwan, with popular items such as coconut masks, oil blotting paper from coconut water, coconut straws...
The company also constantly researches and develops new products from coconut to contribute to product diversification and increase competitiveness in the market," Ms. Hong added.
Focus on implementing many solutions synchronously
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in recent times, restructuring the industry towards increasing value and efficiency has achieved positive results. Labor productivity and quality of key agricultural products have gradually increased, and the proportion of processed products meeting standards has increased.
Mr. Lam Van Tan - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said: Currently, the industry is restructuring towards green, organic, and circular direction. In particular, focusing on expanding the area of high-quality rice, reducing emissions, combining crop rotation on rice land to increase production value.
Up to now, about 35% of key agricultural products have been linked according to value chains to optimize production efficiency, increase product added value, improve income for farmers, businesses and stakeholders, towards sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
Taking advantage of local raw materials, many businesses actively participate in producing green, safe products. |
Regarding the Project on Sustainable Development of 1 million hectares of high-quality and low-emission rice, the province has so far implemented a pilot model at 2 agricultural cooperatives and expanded it to 6 key rice-producing communes.
Through this, people are gradually raising awareness of converting farming methods from traditional to sustainable, aiming to reduce emissions, increase income and protect the environment. Enterprises and cooperatives are increasingly participating actively in the production value chain.
The linkage model between enterprises - cooperatives - farmers is gradually being formed, creating an important premise for sustainable and stable rice production.
According to Mr. Lam Van Tan, in order for the province's agricultural sector to develop sustainably and modernly, the sector will focus on key solutions with a spirit of innovation, creativity and high determination. In particular, focusing on restructuring the sector towards ecological, green and circular direction.
Develop large-scale commodity production, applying high technology. Focus on developing key products of the province such as high-quality low-emission rice, strong colors, specialty fruit trees, coconut, safe animal husbandry and high-value aquatic products.
Forming concentrated raw material areas associated with deep processing, meeting quality standards and traceability. Developing infrastructure to serve production and processing industry; attracting investment, encouraging enterprises and cooperatives to participate deeply in the agricultural value chain.
Promote research, application of science and technology, digital transformation; develop high-quality agricultural human resources; mobilize and effectively use social resources to promote production. Encourage the development of smart agriculture models, organic agriculture, and circular agriculture to increase added value and minimize environmental impact...
Developing green, modern and sustainable agriculture is not only an urgent requirement to improve production efficiency and people's lives, but also an important strategy to contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of the province.
With high political determination, consensus of the people, participation of the entire political system, we believe that the provincial agricultural sector will grow strongly, making increasingly important contributions to the cause of building a rich, beautiful and civilized province.
The whole province currently has 68,535 hectares of area applying high-tech agricultural production, accounting for 8.75%. In 2025, the agricultural production value is estimated to reach 102,000 billion VND, the average growth rate in the 2021-2025 period will reach 3.77%, contributing 31.5% of GRDP, the agricultural economic structure will shift towards reducing the proportion of cultivation, increasing livestock and aquaculture. The production value per hectare of agricultural land is estimated at 240 million VND/ha, aquaculture at 550 million VND/ha. Labor productivity in the agricultural sector is about 110 million VND/worker... |
