Dissemination and propaganda of the Law on Geology and Minerals

On February 24, the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, the Coordination Council for Dissemination and Education of Laws of Quang Ninh Province and the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) jointly organized a conference to disseminate and propagate the Law on Geology and Minerals passed at the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly. Attending the conference were comrades: Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Nghiem Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Coordination Council for Dissemination and Education of Laws of the Province; leaders of TKV and related departments and branches. The conference was broadcast online to commune and district-level bridges in the province and member units of TKV nationwide.

Comrade Nghiem Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Council for Coordinating the Dissemination and Education of Law delivered the opening speech at the conference.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Council for Coordinating the Dissemination and Education of Law, emphasized that the Law on Geology and Minerals is a legal document of great importance to socio -economic development, especially for localities where the mining industry accounts for a large proportion of the economic structure such as Quang Ninh. Therefore, organizing conferences to disseminate and propagate the provisions of the Law is of great importance so that the Law can soon come into life; contributing to the mining industry as well as related fields achieving more sustainable development.

At the conference, delegates were introduced to the provisions of the Law on Geology and Minerals. Accordingly, the Law on Geology and Minerals, which was recently passed at the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly , has major policy changes compared to the 2010 Law on Minerals and previous legal provisions. The focus is on new regulations on basic geological surveys, mineral classification, increased decentralization to local authorities, regulations to promote circular economy in mining, fees for granting mineral exploitation rights, mineral exploitation, etc. With the new regulations, the Law on Geology and Minerals will make an important contribution to improving the effectiveness of State management, economical and effective use of minerals, towards the goal of sustainable development.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, said that the Law on Minerals and Geology is a draft law that the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Ninh province actively participated in, with over 20 speeches at the National Assembly forums. Many of the contents of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation were accepted and added to the draft law by the drafting agencies. This is also the law that was passed by the National Assembly with a very high approval rate.

The Deputy Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies suggested that, after the conference, departments, branches, localities and units continue to disseminate and propagate the provisions of the Law on Geology and Minerals to the people and voters in the area. At the same time, continue to propose the development and completion of legal documents under their authority to concretize the provisions of the Law in practice.
