Cold air is coming, forecast for thunderstorms in the North

According to the meteorological agency, due to the impact of weak cold air, the Northeast region is forecast to have rain from the afternoon and night of October 13.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today (October 12), the area from Quang Tri to Lam Dong and the Southern region will have moderate to heavy rain. The rainfall from 7am to 3pm on October 12 was measured at over 50mm at monitoring stations such as: Dak Sin station ( Dak Nong ) 82.4mm, Ham Cam station (Lam Dong) 81.4mm, Gia Rai station (Ca Mau) 60mm.

The area from Quang Tri to Lam Dong and the South during the night of October 12 - October 13, is forecast to have scattered showers and thunderstorms with rainfall of 10 - 30mm, locally heavy rain over 80mm.

The Northeastern region and the area from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh from the afternoon and night of October 13 will begin to be affected by weak cold air, with forecasts of rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms. Rainfall in the Northeastern region is generally 15 - 30mm, with some places experiencing heavy rain over 70mm; the area from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh is 20 - 40mm, with some places experiencing heavy rain over 80mm.

The Meteorological Agency warns that thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains may cause flash floods in small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.

Analytical data from the meteorological agency also shows that, within the next month, the total rainfall in the common areas will be approximately the same as the average of many years. Particularly, the provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai will have the total rainfall higher than the average of many years from 20 - 40% compared to the average of many years in the same period.

From now until November 10, it is forecasted that there is a possibility of widespread heavy rain in the early stages in the Northern region and Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces. Provinces from Ha Tinh to Quang Ngai are likely to experience some widespread heavy rains. Other areas will have many days of showers and thunderstorms; in which, some days may have moderate to heavy rain.
