At the reception, the Deputy Prime Minister welcomed Mr. Naoki Ito to visit Vietnam in the context of the Vietnam-Japan relationship being in a period of strong, comprehensive, increasingly profound and substantial development while Vietnam is entering a new development stage with higher growth speed and quality.
Referring to Vietnam's recent development situation, the Deputy Prime Minister said that Vietnam aims for growth of over 8% in 2025 and double digits in the following period, opening up great opportunities for Vietnam to strengthen cooperation with international partners, including Marubeni Group.
Vietnam has also been making efforts to perfect its institutional system and improve the investment and business environment to create favorable conditions for investors. Particularly in the electricity sector, Vietnam has passed the amended Electricity Law, issued relevant decrees and circulars; approved the adjusted Power Plan VIII, which emphasizes two requirements: ensuring national energy security and realizing the commitment to reduce net emissions to zero by 2050; and at the same time, focusing on developing renewable energy, gas electricity, liquefied gas and nuclear power.

The Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the cooperation and investment activities of Marubeni Group in Vietnam, especially in the field of power plant construction, which have made positive contributions to the development of the electricity industry as well as the Vietnamese economy ; welcomed the Group's investment expansion plan in Vietnam, including the O Mon II Gas Power Plant project, the Quang Ninh LNG Power project, wind power and solar power farm projects, etc.; affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will always create favorable conditions for foreign investors, including Marubeni Group, to invest and do business effectively in Vietnam in the spirit of "harmonious benefits and shared risks".
General Director of Marubeni Corporation's global power and infrastructure division, Naoki Ito, sent his condolences to the Government and people of Vietnam for the heavy losses caused by the recent storms and floods.
Mr. Naoki Ito thanked the Vietnamese Government for creating favorable conditions for the Group to carry out investment projects in Vietnam; affirming that Vietnam is one of the Group's leading important partners.
Mr. Naoki Ito hopes that the Vietnamese Government will support the Group in completing contracts related to the ability to arrange capital for the O Mon II project. Regarding this issue, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son assigned Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Phan Thi Thang to directly work with Mr. Naoki Ito on the same day to remove difficulties and obstacles, and put the project into operation on schedule.
The Deputy Prime Minister also asked Marubeni Corporation, with its global experience and capacity, to support the Vietnamese Government in building a legal framework to encourage businesses to participate in large power projects such as LNG and offshore wind power./.
