During the night of September 30 and early morning of October 1, Quang Tri province mobilized hundreds of police, military , and border guards to search for missing sailors in storm No. 10.

Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam directly directed the scene, urging the rescue and search for the missing crew members. The Provincial People's Committee leaders requested that, with every effort and the highest sense of responsibility, they do everything possible to find the crew members as soon as possible.

"The forces need to take advantage of every hour and every minute to continue to organize a synchronous search at sea and inshore and mobilize the support of local people and fishermen in the area to expand the search area. At the same time, ensure absolute safety for the task force," Mr. Hoang Nam directed.

Salvage and tow the wrecked fishing boat ashore

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam noted: During the process of salvaging and towing the distressed fishing vessel ashore, it is necessary to arrange anti-oil spill buoys around the vessel to prevent oil spills and impacts on the marine environment. At the same time, urgently contact the unit that repaired the vessel to understand the hull structure and determine a favorable location to speed up the salvaging process. In particular, the People's Committee of Bac Trach commune is required to coordinate with related units and the ship owner to grasp the situation and develop a plan to support the distressed crew members.

As of the evening of September 30, authorities had found the bodies of three people (including one captain and two crew members), and the search for the remaining crew members was continuing.

Search and rescue work is still being carried out by Quang Tri province and functional forces.

Establish a forward command post to direct search, rescue and relief operations.

To organize effective command, on September 30, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province established a forward command post at Border Guard Squadron 1 (Thanh Khe village, Bac Trach commune) and a light command post at Border Guard Squadron 2 (Pho Hoi village, Nam Cua Viet commune). Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee was assigned to take overall command.

Forces participating in the search at sea include: 2 ships of the Standing Militia Fleet with 40 officers; 6 ships and boats of the Provincial Border Guard with 44 officers and soldiers; SAR 631 ship of the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region 2 with 17 crew members was also mobilized to support.

In addition, hundreds of officers, soldiers, border guards, police and mobile militia, along with many vehicles, are urgently searching along the shore. The search area has been expanded to Gianh port, Cua Viet port, coastal waters and the Con Co special zone.

Previously, due to the impact of storm No. 10, on September 28, two serious fishing boat sinkings occurred in the Quang Tri sea. At 5:45 a.m., two boats BV4670-TS and BV0042-TS with 11 crew members sank when entering Cua Viet, about 1.5 km from shore. 9 people were rescued, 2 people are missing.

At 11:45 p.m. the same day, two ships BV-92756-TS and BV-92754-TS were anchored in Bac Gianh ward when their anchor ropes broke and they drifted away. Four people swam safely to shore, while nine crew members were missing.

Today, search and rescue work is still being carried out by Quang Tri province and functional forces with the highest sense of urgency and responsibility.
