Deputy Chief of the General Staff Thai Dai Ngoc appointed Secretary of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee

Deputy Chief of the General Staff Thai Dai Ngoc officially became Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, aiming at sustainable development and maintaining national defense and security.

On October 3, at the Provincial Convention Center, the first Congress of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030 opened, with the participation of 449 delegates representing over 147,000 party members of 139 party committees.

Member of the Politburo , Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia attended and directed the Congress.

This congress has the theme "Building a clean and strong Party organization and political system; promoting cultural identity and the strength of great national unity; maintaining national defense and security; promoting the development of science and technology; mobilizing all resources to build Gia Lai into a fairly developed province of the country."

In his speech directing the Congress, Politburo member Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the 1st Congress of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, is a political event of special importance, laying the foundation and orientation for a new development path for the Provincial Party Committee in the term 2025-2030 and the following terms, bringing Gia Lai province and the whole country firmly into a new era - an era of striving for development, prosperity, civilization and happiness of the nation.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that the historic milestone of July 1, 2025, when Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces merged into Gia Lai province, opened up a new development space, forming a new political-administrative-economic entity, not only large in scale, but also strong in competitiveness, with comprehensive growth potential, and the ability to deeply integrate into the national and global value chain. It is a combination of heroic revolutionary tradition, with a cultural identity imbued with the soul of the Central Highlands, with the unique culture of the islands of the "Land of martial arts, Heaven of literature," the will to overcome difficulties, and the desire to break through and rise up.

To realize the aspiration to build Gia Lai province into a fairly developed province of the country, an important growth pole of the Central Highlands region, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that the province should continue to strengthen the work of building a clean and strong Party and political system in all aspects; focus on solidarity and unity within the Party and consensus among the people; improve the quality of political and ideological work, especially protecting the Party's ideological foundation in cyberspace; promote studying and following Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle, associated with strictly implementing the revolutionary ethical standards of cadres and party members to prevent and repel the degradation of political ideology, morality, lifestyle, and manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation."

The province also needs to focus on leading and directing the operation of the two-level local government apparatus to ensure smoothness, efficiency, effectiveness, and better service to the people and businesses; in which the commune level plays a particularly important role, as the level of government close to the people, directly managing, operating, and developing the local socio-economy.

The province needs to prioritize all resources to lead and direct the successful implementation of socio-economic development goals and tasks, especially the double-digit growth target; build and implement the Gia Lai Provincial Planning for the 2025-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 in an integrated and inter-regional direction; create breakthroughs in administrative reform, improve the investment and business environment, enhance the provincial competitiveness index; closely link economic development tasks with socio-cultural development and environmental protection.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia also noted that Gia Lai province needs to pay special attention to the tasks of national defense and security, maintaining political stability, order and social safety; building an all-people national defense posture, an all-people national defense foundation associated with a people's security posture, a people's security foundation and a solid "people's hearts posture"; proactively and promptly detect and resolutely fight to defeat all plots of "peaceful evolution" and "violent overthrow" by hostile forces and political opportunists.

At the Congress, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van announced the Politburo's Decision on appointing the Party Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term. Accordingly, the Politburo appointed 60 comrades to join the Provincial Party Executive Committee and 18 comrades to join the Standing Committee of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Senior Lieutenant General Thai Dai Ngoc, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, was appointed by the Politburo as Secretary of the Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Senior Lieutenant General Thai Dai Ngoc was born on January 1, 1966, hometown in Cam Le ward, Da Nang city; professional qualification: Bachelor of Military; political theory qualification: Senior.

During his working career, Mr. Thai Dai Ngoc has held the following positions: Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Military Party Committee, Commander of the Dak Nong Provincial Military Command, Military Region 5; Deputy Commander of Military Region 5; Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Military Region 5; Party Committee member of the Party Committee of the General Staff - Ministry of National Defense, Party Committee Secretary of the Department of Operations; Director of the Department of Operations/General Staff; Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Central Military Commission; Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Military Region 5; Commander of Military Region 5.

From January 2025 to present, he is a member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission; Standing member of the Party Committee of the General Staff - Ministry of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee Bui Thi Quynh Van also informed the Congress that recently, the Politburo agreed to let comrade Ho Quoc Dung stop participating in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, stop holding the position of Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary for the 2025-2030 term and related positions so that the Central Committee can carry out the process of introducing and electing him to hold the position of Deputy Prime Minister for the 2021-2026 term.

Speaking at the congress, Gia Lai Provincial Party Secretary Thai Dai Ngoc believed that Gia Lai would unite, inherit and promote the glorious traditions of the Party Committees of the two former provinces of Binh Dinh and Gia Lai; devote all their intelligence, enthusiasm and courage to lead and direct the successful implementation of the Resolution of the first Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030.

In the immediate future, the Provincial Party Executive Committee will focus on concretizing and implementing the action program, implementing the Congress Resolution, promptly putting the Congress Resolution into practice; promptly assigning tasks, clearly defining people, tasks, and responsibilities, creating changes right from the beginning of the term.

Provincial Party Secretary Thai Dai Ngoc affirmed that the Provincial Party Executive Committee is determined to synchronously deploy five growth pillars, four strategic breakthroughs, build a streamlined, strong, effective and efficient two-level local government, promote innovation; carry out digital transformation, develop a green economy, pay attention to ensuring social security; preserve and promote the cultural identity of ethnic groups, strengthen national defense and security; firmly protect national border sovereignty.

On the same afternoon, the delegations continued to discuss the documents of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030 and draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress./.
