Phu Huu: Promoting local advantages in agricultural restructuring and digital transformation

DTO - Phu Huu Commune (Dong Thap Province) has made strong changes in promoting local advantages when restructuring agriculture, associated with building new rural areas and accelerating the digital transformation process.

The durian production model meeting VietGAP standards being implemented in Phu Huu commune has initially brought positive results.

Phu Huu is actively restructuring the agricultural sector, focusing on key products such as longan, tra fish and rice. These are strong products that have shaped the "brand" for the locality. With these advantages, the commune continues to increase the value of agricultural products by applying science and technology and digital transformation.

Since the beginning of the year, the socio -economic picture of the commune has developed comprehensively, especially in the agricultural sector. Specifically, the winter-spring and summer-autumn rice crops have both achieved high yields (6.5 tons/ha and 6.33 tons/ha), exceeding the set plan. The fruit tree area is stable and growing well. In particular, the durian production model meeting VietGAP standards has brought many positive results. Aquaculture, especially exported tra fish and red tilapia, continues to maintain its growth momentum. The price of commercial fish is stable at a high level, bringing significant profits to farmers.

Phu Huu is promoting the integration of digital data into the agricultural sector, building growing area codes and traceability. These are key factors for Phu Huu agricultural products to go further, meeting the requirements of the modern market.

Notably, the OCOP Program (One Commune One Product) has achieved positive results. In the first 7 months of 2025, the commune had 1 more 3-star OCOP product re-evaluated (Tu Kien spring rolls) and 2 new OCOP products (dried kumquat, Tu Kien pork skin) recognized. Currently, Phu Huu is proud to have 12 OCOP products, including 1 4-star OCOP product, contributing to affirming the quality and brand of local agricultural products.

Aiming for sustainable development, Phu Huu commune pays special attention to consolidating and improving the quality of operations of collective economic organizations. With 6 guild halls and 10 cooperatives in operation (including 1 newly established Agricultural Services and Transport Cooperative), the scale of operations is increasingly expanding, bringing practical benefits to members through linking agricultural product consumption and ensuring stable output. This is considered a sustainable direction to help farmers minimize risks and increase income.


Chau Thanh longan is certified with 3-star OCOP, contributing to affirming the brand and quality of agricultural products.

According to the People's Committee of Phu Huu commune, in the last months of the year, to promote advantages, the locality will continue to carry out key tasks including: enhancing the application of science and technology; continuing to support farmers to participate in cooperative economic models, closely linking with businesses to ensure stable output and improve competitiveness for agricultural products; completing infrastructure; supporting local businesses to improve competitiveness, especially leading businesses in the fields of agriculture and agricultural processing...

Phu Huu is gradually maximizing local advantages, moving towards a modern and sustainable agriculture, contributing to improving life and building increasingly rich and beautiful countryside.
