On June 19, social media spread a clip and information about a bun cha restaurant in Hanoi . The article claimed that the staff at this restaurant "washed the meat with coal water, grease and dishwashing liquid".

"I really wanted to vomit when I saw the piece of meat fall onto the coal and they immediately washed it in black water. I also saw that it was dishwashing liquid sprayed on it, plus the meat juice that flowed down and mixed with the coal," the post went viral.

Meanwhile, images from the video show a woman picking up pieces of meat, then dipping them into a tray of black water, next to a charcoal pot, and placing them on the grill.

This bun cha restaurant is located on Quoc Tu Giam Street (Van Mieu Ward, Dong Da District, Hanoi). The restaurant has been open for decades.

According to Mr. G. (son of the bun cha shop owner), the incident happened a few days ago, at noon when the shop was crowded.

He said the water in the tray was meat fat, not charcoal water or dishwashing liquid as reported on social networks.

"Normally, the grease will be poured away. That day, the piece of meat may have accidentally fallen into the coal, so the person making the meat quickly dipped it in the grease to remove the coal dust," Mr. G. explained, admitting that the above behavior was wrong and that he would correct the process.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , the leader of Van Mieu Ward People's Committee said that the unit had received the feedback information.

"As soon as we received the information, the ward's authorities came down to check, but at this time the shop had sold out," said the leader of the Van Mieu Ward People's Committee, adding that tomorrow (June 20), the authorities will continue to come down to check and invite the shop owner to work on the shared clip.

In case of detecting violations, the leader of Van Mieu Ward People's Committee said that they will handle them strictly and take measures to prevent recurrence.
