Quang Ninh adjusts an increase of 700 billion VND for the project to expand the road to Van Don complex.

The project to expand Road 334 from Ao Tien Golf Course to the intersection between Road 334 and the entrance to Van Don Economic Zone complex park officially started in May 2021. According to the decision approving the adjustment of the investment policy of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, the total investment of the project was initially approved at 1,490 billion VND. The project has a total length of 9.5km, the roadbed is 24 - 44m wide, designed with 6 lanes, since the start of construction until now the construction progress has been very slow.

Recently, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province has decided to approve the adjustment of the investment policy for the project to expand Road 334, from Ao Tien Golf Course to the intersection between Road 334 and the entrance to Van Don Complex Park to VND2,190 billion, an increase of VND700 billion.

The project implementation period has also been adjusted to 2026 after two adjustments. Previously, the initial approved period was 2021 - 2024 and then adjusted to August 31, 2025.

The adjustment of completion time is due to increased site clearance costs within the total approved project site scope, leading to an excess of the project's total investment, requiring an adjustment of the investment policy.

To expand Provincial Road 334, the local government must reclaim about 42.13 hectares. Of which, 17.36 hectares is for traffic roads, and 24.77 hectares is for land clearance of households and organizations, directly related to 451 households and organizations.

With investment and construction, the project to expand Road 334 is expected to be a new, synchronous traffic axis, connecting functional zones, urban areas, and tourist areas, and is a driving force to attract investment, promote land space, and promote the development of Van Don Economic Zone.

Currently, Van Don Economic Zone has had many major driving projects to promote socio-economic development here. Notably, the high-end complex tourism service area with casino with a minimum investment capital of 2 billion USD, has just been approved by the Prime Minister for investment policy. Quang Ninh is also looking for investors to implement this project.

This project is planned to become a high-end tourism, resort, entertainment complex with rewards, organizing international-class events, an attractive destination in the world with main activities: Casino business; real estate business, tourism services, hotels, resort villas; complex of commercial centers, offices, conferences, seminars; high-quality fitness, sports, entertainment and health care facilities.

By promoting investment and completing technical infrastructure projects, Van Don economic zone will have a synchronous and modern transport and service infrastructure, contributing to increasing the attractiveness in attracting investment. From there, aiming to build Van Don into a multi-sector, multi-field marine economic zone, an entertainment industry center with casinos, high-class sea and island tourism, comprehensive services; a gateway for international trade, creating unique, different, modern products with high quality.
