After merging 8 units including communes and wards: Rung Thong, Dong Thinh, Dong Tan, Dong Hoa, Dong Minh, Dong Hoang, Dong Khe, Dong Ninh, Dong Son ward has a natural area of ​​41.7km2, population of 58,950 people. The ward party committee consists of 94 party committees and affiliated party cells with 3,758 party members. Dong Son is a land with a long history, culture, revolution, and hard-working, dynamic, and creative people in labor and production. The party committee has focused on comprehensive leadership and direction, leading the locality to complete and exceed the main goals set out in the Resolution of the Congress for the 2020-2025 term, creating a solid foundation for development in the new period.

Notably, the economy continues to grow steadily, the average annual growth rate of total product value is 6.97%; the average income per capita in 2025 is estimated at 76.7 million VND, an increase of 21.89 million VND compared to 2020 and 10.32 million VND higher than the average of the province. Agricultural production has shifted strongly towards commodities, applying high technology. The ward has built 6 large-scale fields with an area of ​​217 hectares; 4 greenhouse and net house models; 9 OCOP products have been recognized. The industry - construction and service sectors have made a breakthrough. The production value reached more than 4,562 billion VND, the growth rate of product value in the period 2021-2025 is estimated at 7.09%; in the area, there are 2 industrial clusters and 2 garment export companies, creating jobs for nearly 10,000 workers. Services and trade have developed in a diverse range of sizes and types, with production value reaching over VND 2,074 billion. The commercial infrastructure system has been expanded, with 11 mini supermarkets and convenience stores; 5 traditional markets and Western wholesale markets providing a wide range of goods, meeting the production and consumption needs of the people.

Along with economic development, the technical infrastructure system, traffic, urban areas, schools, health care ... have been invested synchronously and modernly, gradually forming new residential areas and civilized urban areas. The ward has upgraded and renewed 91.54km of roads; mobilized people to donate 110,147.7m2 of land, worth 275.4 billion VND. 23/25 schools meet national standards, reaching 92%; 95.4% of people participate in health insurance. Cultural and sports facilities have been completed; the work of preserving, restoring, embellishing and promoting the value of cultural heritage has been given attention. The ward has 15 historical and cultural relics at national and provincial levels; of which 15/15 historical relics have completed digitization.

The work of Party building and rectification has been carried out synchronously, with constant innovation, solidarity and unity. The government's activities have been innovated towards effectiveness and efficiency. National defense, security and social order and safety have been maintained.
