Kawasaki Motorcycles has officially launched two new models in Malaysia for 2025, including the KLX230S off-road motorcycle and the KLX230SM version, with prices of RM 23,000 and RM 23,600, respectively. The prices of the KLX230S and KLX230SM announced in the Malaysian market do not include road tax, insurance and registration. Both will be available at Kawasaki dealers distributed by Modenas in Malaysia from early October 2025.
The Kawasaki KLX230S dirt bike weighs 133 kg, with a seat height of 845 mm; while the KLX230SM weighs 136 kg, with a slightly lower seat height of 840 mm - suitable for Asian body types. Both have a 7.6-liter fuel tank and are equipped with a monochrome LCD screen, integrated Bluetooth connection to the phone via the Kawasaki Smart Connection system, bringing a modern experience to the driver. The main difference lies in the rims and tires: the KLX230S is equipped with 21-inch spoke wheels in the front, 18-inch in the rear with specialized knobby tires; while the KLX230SM uses 17-inch cast wheels with street tires.
The KLX230S and KLX230SM duo both use a 233 cc, air-cooled, SOHC single-cylinder engine with a 6-speed gearbox. The chain drive of the KLX230S and KLX230SM produces 19.73 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 20.3 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. The brakes and suspension are also tuned accordingly, with the KLX230SM getting a larger 300mm front disc brake than the S (265mm).
Both Kawasaki dirt bikes come with standard ABS; suspension uses 37mm USD forks up front, but the shock absorber travel differs between the two versions. Video : Introducing the new 2025 Kawasaki KLX230 motorcycle.
