According to Gaming Bolt , rumors about Nintendo's next-generation console have been circulating for a while now, and in recent weeks, more details about the device's hardware and expected launch date have begun to emerge.
Last week, VGC claimed that the new Switch would use an LCD display instead of an OLED and would launch sometime in the second half of 2024. Later, a well-known leaker named NateTheHate also provided more details about the device in his podcast.
Switch 2 is expected to use an 8-inch LCD screen
According to the leaker, the Nintendo Switch successor will have an 8-inch LCD screen at launch, up from the 6.2-inch screen of the standard Switch and the 7-inch screen of the OLED Switch. The leaker also said that the Switch 2 will continue to use physical cartridges or possibly a new format, and claimed that the console will feature an expanded internal storage of up to 512 GB. Finally, he expected the new Switch to launch around September or October.
If the aforementioned launch date is accurate, we're still a little over a year away, so Nintendo Switch fans will likely have to wait a few more months for more reliable news.
As for the Nintendo Switch, the 7-year-old console continues to post impressive sales. As of June 30, the device has sold more than 129.5 million units worldwide .
