At the Galaxy S25 launch event, Samsung confirmed that it is developing a tri-fold phone. A new report has just revealed the launch date of this attractive product.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold tri-fold phone will use Snapdragon 8 Elite chip |
During its recent earnings call with investors, Samsung revealed that it plans to launch a triple-folding phone and XR glasses in the second half of this year. They could go on sale before the end of 2025.
Samsung’s tri-fold phone is expected to be called the Z TriFold. It has two hinges that fold inwards, unlike Huawei’s tri-fold phone, the Mate XT Ultimate. This means that no part of the screen is exposed to the elements when fully folded.
This design makes the device more durable than rival Huawei's tri-fold phone. Samsung Z TriFold will use Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 16GB RAM and 25W fast charging.
The device is said to have a similar camera system as the Galaxy Z Fold7. That means users can expect a 200MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom support. The front of the phone will have a 10MP selfie camera.
One important part of this tri-fold phone that could be affected is the battery. To keep the product light and thin, Samsung may reduce the size and capacity of the battery. This means the battery in the Z TriFold will be a bit smaller than other competitors.
Alongside the tri-fold phone, Samsung will also launch an AR glasses, which will be the world's first to run Android XR. It will be equipped with a Micro OLED or OLEDoS display with a 90Hz refresh rate and eye tracking technology.
Samsung's new AR glasses will likely be equipped with the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chip, capable of processing up to 12 camera data streams simultaneously, giving users a near-realistic video experience.
