Types of disabilities screened in this period include: Facial defects (cleft lip, cleft palate, nasal deformity, torn lips...); sequelae after burns; motor disabilities (limb defects causing difficulty in walking, moving, polydactyly, syndactyly, torticollis, scoliosis, deltoid fibrosis, congenital hip dislocation...); eye defects (strabismus, ptosis, cataracts...); ear defects (body deformity, ear pain due to inflammation of internal organs, hearing loss); genital-anal defects (umbilical hernia, inguinal hernia, hydrocele, cryptorchidism, high or low urethral meatus, hernia...) and other benign tumors, pectus excavatum (not including congenital heart disease).
During this period, doctors from Quang Tri General Hospital, staff from Center II and regional medical centers will conduct screening for about 500 disabled children under 16 years old. The screening activities will be held in Dong Ha and Nam Dong Ha wards, Quang Tri and Dakrong, Hai Lang, Gio Linh, Trieu Phong, Cam Lo, Vinh Linh and Khe Sanh communes.
“Center II would like to thank Thien Tam Fund and its sponsors for supporting and lighting up the faith of disabled children in difficult circumstances in Quang Tri province. We hope to receive support from agencies, units, businesses and the community so that the program can be widely spread, supporting more disabled children, helping them reintegrate into the community,” Mr. Nguyen Trong Dai shared.
