Secret Garden: "Vietnam gives us very special feelings"

(Dan Tri) - Members of the band Secret Garden expressed their emotions when they first set foot in Vietnam, felt the friendliness of the people and hoped to spread love through music.

On the morning of October 17, the world- famous music group Secret Garden attended a press conference in Hanoi to share about Secret Garden Live in Vietnam.

This program is part of the international music project for the community Good Morning Vietnam, co-organized by Nhan Dan newspaper, aiming to bring top music closer to the Vietnamese public and promote the country's image to the world.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper said: “With Secret Garden, it took us 2 years to arrange the schedule to perform in Vietnam. This is also the first destination in the tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the band's founding.”

Sharing at the press conference, artist Fionnuala Sherry - a member of Secret Garden - expressed her joy at coming to Vietnam for the first time. She said that both of them have known about the love of Vietnamese audiences for a long time and have dreamed of having the opportunity to perform here.

“Now our dream has come true. From the moment we landed at Noi Bai airport, we felt the warmth and friendliness of the Vietnamese people. We were deeply moved by such a warm welcome,” Fionnuala confided.

The artist also expressed her happiness at being able to participate in a music project with profound social meaning. “We hope to be able to make a small contribution through music to bring good things to the Vietnamese people,” she said.

At the meeting, artist Rolf Løvland also shared: “We are very excited about our first performance in Vietnam. When posting information about the tour on our fanpage, many Vietnamese audiences sent greetings and expressed their love for our music.

That makes us feel a special connection, even though we have never been here. Vietnam brings its own inspiration, and we want to show that appreciation through deep and memorable performances.”

Artist Rolf Løvland also said that in Norway, they regularly follow news about Vietnam, especially information about natural disasters and floods. Therefore, when he learned that the program aimed at meaningful community activities, he felt this was a great opportunity to spread love and share through music with the Vietnamese people.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 16, after a 15-hour flight from Oslo (Norway), Fionnuala Sherry and Rolf Løvland arrived at Noi Bai airport, starting their first performance in Vietnam.

As soon as they landed at the airport, the two smiled and waved to fans and excitedly checked in with handmade conical hats painted with Vietnamese landscapes prepared by the Organizing Committee.

According to the Organizing Committee, Secret Garden Live in Vietnam will introduce about 30 works spanning three decades of the group's career, blending classical and Nordic-Celtic folk styles.

Although the list of songs to be performed is still kept secret, Vietnamese fans will definitely enjoy Secret Garden's signature songs, the most typical of which is Songs from a secret garden. In addition, globally famous works such as You raise me up - a song performed by more than 1,000 artists - will also appear in the program.

Secret Garden Live in Vietnam took place on the evening of October 18 at the National Convention Center (Hanoi).

Secret Garden consists of two members, Fionnuala Sherry and Rolf Løvland, founded in 1994.

In 1995, the group made history by winning the Eurovision Song Contest with Nocturne , breaking the contest's 40-year history by awarding the prize to an ensemble for the first time.

Since then, over the past three decades, Secret Garden has continued to nurture the love of global audiences through 12 albums, starting with Songs from a Secret Garden (1995) and most recently Songs in the Circle of Time (2024).

The group maintains a presence in the mainstream as one of Universal Classics & Jazz's best-selling artists with 113 platinum albums worldwide, over 3 billion streams, and 311 weeks on the Billboard New Age chart.

The song " You raise me up " (2001) has been performed by many world-famous artists and bands such as: Josh Groban, Westlife, Il Divo...
