At a concert in Hanoi on the evening of October 18, for the first time, musician Rolf Løvland of the band Secret Garden revealed the touching story of the cancer battle of violinist Fionnuala Sherry, who has been creating “healing” music with him for the past three decades.

Legendary band Secret Garden performed in Vietnam for the first time.
He said that when Fionnuala was diagnosed with the disease, the band was forced to cancel their entire world tour so she could receive treatment. “ Luckily, everything was fine. We realized we should return to music, like the first days we started playing together,” Rolf shared. It was from that feeling that he composed Fionnuala's Violin – a song that was specially performed during the concert in Vietnam.
This is also the first time the legendary band Secret Garden has come to Vietnam to perform, opening the global tour to celebrate 30 years of their career. For fans, Secret Garden coming to Vietnam and even filming a music video to promote tourism is like a "miracle".

Fionnuala Sherry not only performs but also shares the stories behind the group's compositions.
During the two-hour concert, Rolf Løvland (piano), Fionnuala Sherry (violin) and the six-member band played 20 songs selected from 13 albums released over 30 years. Despite the continuous performance, their music was full of energy and emotion.
Rolf and Fionnuala's enchanting playing remains at its peak, undiminished by time.
The concert opened with Windancer - a melody that took the audience into a magical world where humans blend with nature. Timeless songs like Nocturne , the song that helped Secret Garden win Eurovision 1995, brought back beautiful memories of Nordic music for the audience. Between performances, the two artists took turns telling the stories behind the compositions, turning the show into a warm dialogue between the performers and the listeners.

Members of the group Secret Garden performed energetically in the concert.
Secret Garden surprised 4,000 Vietnamese audiences when they performed Tree of Secrets for the first time, and dedicated the song Thank You as a thank you for the warm welcome from the Vietnamese audience. With Espen's warm voice, songs like Lullaby for Grown-ups became a gentle lullaby.
The most touching moment of the night was when the song “ You Raise Me Up” rang out amidst endless applause. The entire National Convention Center auditorium turned on its flashlights, harmonizing with the melody that has touched millions of hearts around the world. This is Secret Garden’s most covered song with over 1,000 recordings in 50 languages, and has helped Josh Groban and Westlife top the global music charts.

Images of Vietnam come to life through carefully prepared visual art.
Not only music, the show is also a visual feast. The organizers carefully prepared the visual art, recreating a Nordic garden with brilliant aurora lights and images imbued with Vietnamese culture: lotus ponds, bamboo clumps, terraced fields, lanterns, Ninh Binh mountains and rivers... all blending with the melody, making the audience feel like they are lost in a "secret garden" in real life.
Without the need for an interpreter, the Secret Garden band connected with the Vietnamese audience through the only language of music. The concert ended in emotion and sublimation, marking a memorable milestone in the band's 30-year journey.
The legendary band Secret Garden was formed in 1995, after Rolf Løvland and Fionnuala Sherry met at a European music competition. The combination of Rolf’s soulful music and Fionnuala’s lyrical violin created a distinctive style – a blend of classical music, Nordic folk and New Age melodies.
The group made a splash early on when they won the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest with Nocturne. A year later, their debut album , Songs from a Secret Garden, became a global phenomenon, achieving platinum certification in Norway and South Korea and topping the Billboard New Age charts for 101 consecutive weeks.
Not only that, the song You Raise Me Up composed by Rolf Løvland has become a global cultural phenomenon, performed by more than 100 artists, of which Westlife's version reached number one on the UK charts in 2005.
