Specialist Doctor II Le Quang Trung, Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Health said: Implementing the plan to receive and work with the Central ENT Hospital delegation, Dong Nai Department of Health coordinated to survey ENT activities at 3 hospitals: Dong Nai General Hospital, Thong Nhat General Hospital and Long Khanh Regional General Hospital.
Accordingly, the 3 hospitals have 40 ENT specialists, including 21 doctors, 17 nurses and 2 caretakers. The department is organized reasonably, basically meeting the regular professional requirements. However, there is still a lack of highly qualified doctors such as specialist II and PhD.

To improve the quality of examination and treatment of ear, nose and throat diseases, the Department of Health recommends additional funding to upgrade specialized equipment at hospitals; at the same time, support training and transfer of specialized techniques to doctors at provincial and regional levels.

The Department of Health also requested the Central Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital to transfer some advanced and specialized techniques in ear, nose and throat to hospitals in the province. Thereby, improving the quality of examination and treatment for people in the province, limiting the need for referrals.

At the meeting, the leaders of 3 hospitals: Dong Nai General Hospital, Thong Nhat General Hospital and Long Khanh Regional General Hospital proposed many contents. In particular, specialist doctor II Ngo Duc Tuan, Director of Dong Nai General Hospital proposed to establish an ENT Center under Dong Nai General Hospital.
Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Tuan Canh, Director, Head of the working group of the Central Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, said: The Central Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital is committed to meeting the training requirements of ear, nose and throat human resources for Dong Nai hospitals and is ready to transfer advanced techniques to hospitals in the province.
Director of Dong Nai Department of Health Do Thi Nguyen requested 3 hospitals to urgently develop a long-term plan for developing ENT specialties, at least 5 years, to provide a roadmap for implementation. The first step is to develop and train human resources, followed by facilities and equipment. Dong Nai General Hospital is considering establishing an ENT Center under the hospital to receive and transfer advanced techniques from the Central ENT Hospital, then transfer them to lower-level hospitals.

Concluding the working session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Truong Son assessed: After 2 days of serious work, the parties have achieved many important results, creating a premise to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment in the coming time.

The provincial leaders highly agreed with the proposals of the working group, the Department of Health and the hospitals. In the immediate future, the Department of Health will preside over and coordinate with Dong Nai General Hospital to urgently develop a Project to establish an ENT Center at Dong Nai General Hospital, and submit it to the competent authority for approval for early implementation.
Regarding equipment, the Department of Health is assigned to coordinate with hospitals to review the list and complete procedures to soon implement investment, with priority given to 2025; if not qualified, it will be implemented from the beginning of 2026. Investment needs to go hand in hand with human resource training to maximize efficiency.
Regarding human resources, it is recommended that units carefully prepare long-term development plans, in conjunction with the implementation of Resolution No. 72 of the Politburo . At the same time, research specific incentive policies to attract and "retain" good doctors.
At the meeting, Dong Nai Department of Health signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the Central Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital.
