Exciting world's first 'humanoid robot Olympics'

On August 15, the 2025 Humanoid Robot World Championship officially opened in Beijing, China, gathering hundreds of teams from 16 countries.

According to Reuters news agency, the World Humanoid Robot Games 2025 opened today, August 15, in Beijing (China).

Humanoid Robot Olympics

Also known as the “World Humanoid Robot Games 2025”, the three-day tournament attracted 280 teams from 16 countries with more than 500 robots competing in various events.

Of these, 192 teams are from universities, while 88 teams are from private enterprises such as Unitree and Fourier Intelligence of China.

Competitions include both traditional sports such as athletics and basketball and practical tasks such as drug sorting, material handling or cleaning.

Robot competitions have been held for decades, but this is the first competition to focus entirely on human-like robots, according to organizers.

This event is not only a display of robotic technology and advances in AI, but also an opportunity to collect data to serve the development of practical robot applications, especially in industrial production.

Tickets to the event ranged from 128 to 580 yuan (about 17.83 to 80.77 USD). Several schools in China organized students to attend, aiming to inspire young people about this new technology.

According to Reuters, on the first day of competition, the audience witnessed many dramatic and humorous situations such as: robots continuously colliding and falling down in a series of soccer matches, or accelerating and then suddenly collapsing while competing, making the audience both surprised and laughing.

China invests heavily in robot technology

China is now the world's largest industrial robot market, investing billions of dollars in humanoid robots amid an aging population and technological competition with the United States, according to official figures.

Recently, the country announced a 1,000 billion yuan (equivalent to about 139 billion USD) fund to support technology startups, including in the fields of robot design and AI.

In addition, China also organized many other large-scale events such as the world's first humanoid robot marathon, a robot conference, and the opening of a robot retail chain...

Analysts from Morgan Stanley Bank (USA) noted that the number of people participating in recent robot conferences has increased sharply compared to before, reflecting the widespread interest of society in this field.
